Prologue: A wish

Prologue: A wish

Jan 11, 2021

Frequently, wishes upon shooting stars naturally won't come true, after all, it was after the person who had the wished to put effort and make his dream to become real. But sometimes, in a coincidence, wishes do come true, and the bigger the wish, the larger the responsibility amounted on it.

One friday night, a seven year old boy was sitting on a swing, hanging out for himself on a children's playground. And since the dawn was its darkest peak, no one would know that there was someone out at the middle of the night. But wasn't it dangerous for a young boy to be out at the night, especially on the modern times where kidnap for organs was pretty often. But either way, the boy had felt suffocated from all the problems he was dealing on his age. Despite being young, he was aware of the things happening around him. Some might called it a talent, but for him, it was a curse.

That was why he just wanted to run off and just escape the world. Then, in a reflex, he had let a wish in the absence of a fleeting star. Though the wish he wanted was absolutely absurd and will never come true.

"I wish that I would just be sent into an another world. Like what I saw on tv. I also want the world to be a game like thing."

His wish was perhaps had been affected from the random shows his father had been watching with him. But he don't have the full grasp of the show's essence, though. Nonetheless, the show was fascinating enough to creep on the child's head, and made him into delusions of believing that it might be true.

He was intelligent, true, but an idiot, too.

And after five long years, sitting on the same swing, he definitely saw it. An emerald circular shape thing, floating at the night sky like a north star. It's light was green, though. The boy squinted his eyes from the beautiful gem sparkling in above him, and he noticed that it was something similar to a microchip.

A circular microchip...

He had this word repeatedly echoed through his brain continually. The chip descended slowly into the boys direction. And as it move slowly in a vertical downward manner, the wish that boy had made when he was a child reminiscent on him, as if it was yesterday, giving him chills on the spine. However, can a chip really do anything, although he was on middle school, there wasn't a lot of things he can do with a piece of chip he was unfamiliar with.

But he can't find in himself to throw such thing, maybe it had some value itself.

Through out the world, things like entering a game and playing through a game that was almost exactly similar to the real world, was nothing but a stretched out idea that will never merged into reality. That's how fantasy works, though.

However, through a mysterious event that had shaken the whole world, had suddenly broke through the boundaries that seperated real from unreal. Was it coincidence? Was it safe? Does it meant danger to humanity? Was all questions that government wanted to wrapped up on the year 2020.

And after almost one year of cowering in their own houses, getting anxious from how should they respond from floating giant cubes of a pitch black color, was very unclear. Until an advertisement, from an unknown entity had cleared up a misunderstanding, no, it didn't stated that it was going to do that, but for now, the box never meant any danger.

Rather, it offers an advanced technology that let lucky people to experience the fantasy world they only see in novels. How sweet....

And without a second thought, the main protagonist, Yoru, was now staking all of his time into this brand new world he had dreamed off since he was a kid. Not caring if the technology will never bring harm into humanity, or to himself.
