Mavric and Riley have been rivals since high school. They really never had any reason to be though. 

They were close in elementary school up until the beginning of sixth grade. After that, they drifted apart.

 Neither of them was ever that popular at any time throughout school. They were both quiet and mostly kept to themselves. 

Sometimes they would get a bit of popularity for no given reason except for the fact that they were both not bad looking by any means. Sometimes the "popular girls" would try to date either of them, however, when they ended up rejecting them, their popularity was revoked quickly. 

After school ended was when their popularity really started. Both of them took up theater opportunities. Since they lived in NYC this was pretty easy for a fresh out of high school teenager. 

They both got small parts in musicals or other productions on TV or other streaming platforms. Slowly, they started to gain popularity and started to earn bigger roles. 

Soon, at the age of 19, they both had their first lead role in something as big as an award-winning movie. This would do a lot for their career and they knew it. 

Both of them had ignored each other after high school. They obviously knew of each other's growing popularity but decided to ignore it. After all, they would never have to see each other again right? right..?
