Amber's Stretch Juneself

Day 1: Sunrise

Day 1: Sunrise

Jun 01, 2019

It was still dark when I woke up. A glow of pale light in the horizon meant that the sun would be up soon. I got dressed quickly, washed my face and took a piece of bread and an apple with me. I would eat them later. Now, I had to hurry.

When I was finally ready to leave, it was already a lot brighter outside. The pale light had changed to warm and deep orange and clouds had been painted with shades of yellow and gold. I had woken up even before the birds because just now I heard their first morning melodies. I smiled at two sparrows bathing in the little fountain in my garden as I hurried past them.

Following a narrow and winding path, I made my way to the fields. The morning dew soaked my shoes and felt cold against my skin. The sky was turning more and more orange and the clouds more and more golden. When I got to the top of the hill, I stopped to catch my breath. Before me spread out all the nearby fields and forests, I could see them bathe in the golden light.

I hadn’t stood there for more than a minute when I heard neighing of several horses. Soon I could feel their thunderous gallop shake the ground. As if out of nowhere, four pure white horses appeared. They pulled a golden chariot that shone so brightly in the morning light that it was impossible to see who was driving it. A wave of hot air washed over me and made me close my eyes. When I opened them again, the horses had disappeared.

I turned back to look at the fields. The sun was already up, spreading its warm rays on the land and bathing everything in its warmth. I sat down on the grass and took out my breakfast. I ate my sandwich and listened to the birdsong, admiring the beautiful sunrise.

One day I will see who the driver of that chariot is.

Welcome to the first episode of "Stretch Juneself". A challenge where the goal is to make something related to a topic every day for whole June.

These episodes will be pretty short and I will be experimenting with different styles and genres.

If you wish to try this yourself, here is link to the forum post for more info: https://forums.tapas.io/t/june-challenge-stretch-juneself-anything-goes/34007

And here's a link to the Google Doc where you can see the topics and suggest one if there's a free day left: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13r_mlBYTqSkmwclH3tej8SIDwRoPkgnCNGHmj9mTLYA/edit#gid=0

This series is meant for sharing my creations for the "Stretch Juneself" challenge made by Rodimus13 on the Tapas forum.

My goal is to post every day for the month of June with a text related to that days topic.

I want to share this as a series because there will be many different themes and styles of writing in here I think you might enjoy as well. Also you will most likely see some of my old and current OCs and those that possibly appear in future series as well.

If you enjoy reading these prompts, maybe try it yourself. All the links will be in the description of the first episode.
