Red and blue lights. The slippery road. The white ceiling.
Those were the only things that Cheng Ge remembered before passing out. However, the moment he woke up, a weird-looking ceiling welcomed him.
It was unlike the usual ceiling of a modern house or a hospital. The ceiling was carved intricately with floral patterns and unknown symbols. It all somehow weaved together to form a beautiful image with the chandelier at the center.
"A Victorian-style house?" he muttered, his eyes in a daze. Were there people who actually still valued such designs in the 21st century? He thought that minimalistic and futuristic houses were the trend. This mansion was anything but.
He absentmindedly moved his hand and caressed the soft mattress beneath his body. It was soft, like silk. Probably a fabric of high quality.
Huh. Some rich people actually brought me here. He winced at the thought.
The only thing he can remember at the moment is that he was caught in a car accident last night. Cheng Ge actually expected himself to wake up in a hospital room or something, but the whole room he was in was so unfamiliar that he couldn't help but overthink.
What happened after the car accident? How long has it been since the car accident? Why am I in a house like this and not in a hospital?
Despite the barrage of questions plundering his confused and sensitive brain, he could only brush it off at the moment. He focused instead on moving his body out of bed.
Surprisingly, there was little to no problem with his bodily movements. To be exact, he felt more powerful than ever. He gained more muscles and grew taller.
Cheng Ge, out of confusion, removed his blanket and saw his fully naked body.
Bronze skin. Long, slender, and strong legs. His abs. The sexy mermaid lines. His broad and hard chest. His manhood, which was still lying dormant, is actually quite large for a sleeping monster. Everything about him is different from the body he was used to.
My Chinese-born body is not like this at all! He exclaimed in his mind as he tapped every part of his newly acquired body.
He's definitely sure that right now he is not in his current body. And he is definitely not in China.
Because he heard an old voice knocking on his door, speaking in English, "Young Master, are you awake now?"
Oh, my goodness. Young Master?! Since when did my broke ass have a servant? Cheng Ge wanted to cry. The feeling of being lost, mixed with confusion, made him sluggish to react.
The butler outside knocked again. "Young Master?"
This time, Cheng Ge snapped out of his thoughts and decided to face the problem first before pondering about his current predicament. "Please wait a moment," he answered with a calm voice.
It was only at this moment that he realized how his voice turned out to be lower than before. It even has a tinge of the so-called "husky" voice. He also marveled at how, despite getting a low grade in his English classes, he still spoke as if it were his first language. He was very fluent!
Maybe this has something to do with me being transmigrated in an English man's body. Perhaps, like an auto-translated system or something. His thoughts traveled from one place to another, while at the same time, he grabbed the robe situated near his bed.
The red robe, however, did not manage to hide the perfectly sculpted body of Cheng Ge. He could only fasten the belt as tight as he could, helpless as he found out that his bare chest was still in view. "Well, at least it covers my..." He glanced at his crotch and sighed.
Twisting the door knob open, he saw a fifty-year-old man in a suit. He was about an inch shorter than him, standing in a straight posture. Despite the old age and the evident white hair, the man still looked as reliable and mighty as he had probably been when he was younger.
"Today is the day you are scheduled for a small informal gathering with the nobles, Young Master," the butler announced in a polite tone.
Seeing the man in front of him, a fragment of the original owner's body entered his mind. This butler was named Arnold. It was a typical name for a servant, actually. Arnold was the one who personally raised the original owner of this body. Therefore, he is quite close to this man. However, as the real young master grew older, he started to distance himself from everyone else. The original owner would still smile and be polite with them, but not as close as before. As to the reason why, Cheng Ge doesn't know.
Another piece of information he gained from the memory was his current body's name. Lucian Montague. Cheng Ge was now in the body of a Duke's son. A noble and an alpha at that.
The third piece of information was also connected to his being an alpha. He was now in an omegaverse world. There are now three subgenders: beta, omega, and alpha.
Despite the world he's currently in being identical to the Earth where Cheng Ge came from, it was as clear as a day that he was not living on Earth at the moment. Everyone has gods and goddesses that they worship, and the places and nobles were different from what he knew.
There's no China here. Cheng Ge could only weep in his heart. Goodbye, my beloved family and ancestors.
Despite the sudden encounter of information, Cheng Ge kept his cool and even smiled. "Thank you, Arnold. Please tell the servants to prepare for my clothes."
"Yes, Young Master."
...
Cheng Ge was currently stuck in the said gathering of nobles. No matter how he tried to appear interested, he couldn't appreciate whatever they were talking about. He could understand the language, but not the topic at hand.
What's with this topic about the Eastern Continent? Or the military affairs of the Northern Islands? I'm just a newbie transmigrator; please have mercy on me.
No matter. He can only pretend to listen to them. After all, gatherings like these are only done to save each other's faces. As long as Cheng Ge pretended to listen to everything they talked about, it would not pose a problem, right?
After half an hour of discussing stuff about the North, South, East, West, and Central of the Nation, they finally decided to take a small walk in the garden. Cheng Ge felt relieved. Now he can finally stop pretending to be interested.
The group immediately broke apart as they scattered among themselves in the garden. Cheng Ge immediately searched for a place to sit down. He was not unlucky at all. He found a small round table with two chairs on opposite sides.
Cheng Ge's tired eyebrows subconsciously softened as he removed his coat and settled himself on the chair. Finally, he can relax. The coat was kind of stifling for him since he was new to this kind of clothing. He also had the urge to remove his necktie.
Just as he was about to pull off the knot, his eyes landed on the man leisurely walking towards him. The man's golden hair mixed with his sky blue eyes appeared quite magical, especially in a place like the garden. His skin was so fair, but his broad body proved that the other guy was an Alpha.
Lucian flashed an easy smile. "Good day, my lord," he said with just the right respectfulness. Cheng Ge was unaware of how his carefree greeting affected the nobleman in front of him.
Eugene Fergus, the blonde man, couldn't help but squint his eyes at the bronze-skinned alpha. Lucian's smile appeared so gentle, like warm sunshine in the early morning or a wind's blow on a tree's fragile leaf. Eugene can't help but feel warm in his heart.
However, Eugene did not like interacting with other alphas. He hated alphas the most. And so he turned his body away from the man and walked the opposite way. He thought that no one was going to sit in his favorite spot yet, but he was utterly disappointed to see the black-haired alpha lying there.
On the other hand, the ignored Lucian couldn't help but frown in embarrassment. He just wanted to say hi. What's wrong? Despite feeling ashamed, he forced himself to just let it go. After all, the other alpha must've been out of the mood for a small talk.
Cheng Ge continued removing his necktie, gently placing it on the table, and leaning on the chair leisurely. Basking in the morning sun and fresh air like this, he couldn't help but sigh in satisfaction. "I've never been in a garden like this in my past life," he murmured, his lips barely moving.
It was at this moment that something seemed to prick inside his head. He wanted to resist, but soon after, memories flooded into his mind.
Memories of Lucian as a kid, as a teenager, until the latest, when he finally became a 25-year-old Alpha. Cheng Ge felt like watching a movie in fast-forward motion. It's just like a mirage, enough to let him glimpse at it, but not to delve further.
The final part of the 'movie' suddenly slowed down. The first-person point-of-view slideshow suddenly changed; it became in 3rd person. It felt like watching Lucian from the ceiling. It was the moment when Lucian abruptly stopped breathing while sleeping. Cheng Ge knew he died at that moment because Lucian's face turned extremely pale. Despite the bronze skin, it couldn't hide the fact that his lips were dark in color. The chest that was supposed to heave gently was not moving at all.
Lucian died.
'And I replaced him.'
So, the moment I transmigrated into this body, he actually came back alive? Does that mean he's not inside this body anymore? That was kind of sad.
But at the same time, Cheng Ge couldn't help but wonder why he had transmigrated into this body. Does Lucian have a certain connection with him?
Nevermind that. Cheng Ge doesn't want to think about such complex matters anymore. He just has to live this life sincerely. He clenched and pumped his fist inside his mind to cheer himself up.
