They came back apparently.
Mom was restless this morning. After waking up she didn't look like her usual self. Her eyes were full of bags, her movements quite delayed, and her hair unwashed. Yet she looked all the more excited even when all 3 things combined.
"We're going to the airport today." She yawned. "We're picking up someone special to this house."
"Who?" I asked curiously. "How long do they have to stay?"
"They'll stay here as long as they need to be." She smiled while putting a plate of eggs and spam on my side of the table. "I already laid your clothes. Wake your brother and tell him that we'll be leaving in an hour."
I left the kitchen and went straight to my brother's room. He was six and older by two years. He has a lot of friends, and he is stronger and taller than most kids. I really want to be like him but I don't think that's meant for me.
"Tommy wake up." I shook him lightly. "Mom said we're going on a road trip."
"Road trip?" He yawned. "Where?"
"The airport," I said. "I think Gran is coming. Maybe she'll bake-"
"They're coming Today!" He said with a new burst of energy spilling over him. Tommy got up from bed, ran through the door, and headed towards the dining room.
Questions were still left unanswered to me. I didn't know who was coming and why my family was so excited to see them.
I'm not.
If they were important to Mom and Tommy, why haven't I seen them?
