A case of an apple pie laced with arsenic has Lani Lockhart looking at everyone around her as potential suspects. The pie allegedly came from her family's bakery, Mad Batter, but none of them remember baking it. Not even the plate it sat on belonged to the bakery. She tries to convince the lead detective of this, but they don't seem to believe her. 

Someone even points their finger at Lani, accusing her of baking the pie that killed a grouchy old woman! If she doesn't find out who killed her, Lani's concerned about the negative press it'll bring to their family and wants the gossip around her murdering the woman to stop.  Before the police actually start investigating her as a prime suspect.
