It's been almost 10 years since I first heard that voice in my dreams. Stars as far as the eye could see. Constellations filled my mind. Everything so vivid before me.
Monday: April 4
"AUUGH!" an adolescent blond boy (Kid Sharpe) whined. "Why can't I remember what it said?!"
"There's no use stressing about such trivial things, Kid." an expressionless blue haired boy (Skai Noriko) remarked as he adjusted his glasses.
"Don't be so callous, Skai!" a lively girl with long wavy pink hair (Anya Atsuko) sassed back. "It is the first day back at school, we should try to enjoy ourselves."
"Anya's right!" Kid grinned." We managed to get into the same class this year!" he locked arms with the pair as they walked toward the student plaza. Hundreds of students were gathered, some new, some reuniting with friends from previous years. However, amidst the enthusiastic atmosphere, one individual stood out. With crimson eyes and longish white hair drawn back into a low ponytail (Syrus Kanamura), his disposition was oozing with malcontent. In stark contrast, the boy who was keeping him company was peppy, with long lavender hair and violet eyes (Arlin Akseli). His exaggerated bearing was unaffected by his companion’s bitterness.
"He's back?' Skai questioned in awe.
"Who?" Anya and Kid looked toward the mass of students.
"Kanamura Syrus." Skai declared as he pointed to the dejected white-haired boy then quickly pulled his finger back to adjust his glasses.
"Oh." Anya said pensively.
"Did something happen?" Kid asked. "He looks so miserable." He gestured all around with his arms. "It's spring, he should be happy!"
"Stay away from him." Skai warned as he tugged at Kid's shirt collar preventing him from marching off. "He's nothing but trouble."
"Mmm." Kid moaned in disapproval. A group of girls walked by them, gossiping as they went.
“Hey, did you hear?” one girl (Minako Fujimoto) asked her friends.
“No, I was at the salon all day, what’s up?” another haughtily styled girl (Hana Nishitani) scoffed.
“Jun sama’s new movie?” the third (Ami Sasaki) chimed in.
“Girl, that was last week. ARK made a new InstaStory post yesterday!” Minako corrected her.
“What?! I NEED to see it!” they rushed along as they looked at their phones. Other groups conversed amongst themselves as more students passed through the courtyard. The bustle of the crowd was interrupted by the crackle of the intercom as an announcement began.
"Good morning students of Kaede Academy!" a domineering male voice came out of the speakers. "As captain of the Disciplinary Committee I'd like to remind you all that class begins at EXACTLY 8:30." the air filled with sighs of exasperation and disdain. "All who are late shall receive negative marks on their records and will be punished accordingly." A sadistic joy could be found in the tone of his voice as he spoke. "Observe the rules and we're sure to have a pleasant year." More groans could be heard throughout the campus. "To conclude, tryouts for the Baseball, Football [Soccer], Tennis, Swimming and Archery teams will be held next week. For the specific dates and details, please see the schedule posted in the gym." he paused to take a quick breath then continued on. "Thank you for your time." With a click the intercom shut off.
"God! Murasa is so full of it!" a girl with apricot hair partly pulled to one side and green eyes (Mini Kouki) complained.
"How'd he even get that position?" an identical girl with her hair pulled up opposite her sister's (Jem Kouki) asked in distress.
"It's usually reserved for upperclassmen, it's only his second year here!"
"Mini, I'm sure he worked hard to earn it." Kid urged tentatively as he waved to the twin girls.
"Oh! Hi Sharpe san, Noriko and Atsuko san!" Jem beamed to his entourage. "Lucky you! You're with us again!"
"Sure, ‘lucky’ is one way to put it, Kouki san." Skai rolled his eyes.
"You're mean!" they pouted simultaneously as Anya and Kid laughed. A large crowd began to form at the other end of the plaza. A blonde British girl with green eyes (Kelly Dunley) was being swarmed by wishful students hoping to ascend to popularity vicariously through her.
"Cut it out you buzzards!" A rouge haired girl (Carmen Frost) snapped with a sharp commanding tone. The majority of the crowd backed away. "You're that new girl, eh?" she spoke as she inspected the girl. "England was it?"
"Yes." the blonde girl remained poised as she answered.
"Me too!" the boisterous redhead winked as she extended her hand. "Frost, Carmen Frost."
"Kelly Dunley." the blonde met her hand and they shook.
"Not fair!" a charismatic red-haired boy (Sal Tamsin) slid over giving a roguish grin. "You always get them first!"
"What makes you think the new girl would fall for your gimmicks when you can't even sway the locals?" a saucy blond boy with icy blue eyes (Aren Saveli) jeered.
"Shut it, Saveli!" Sal snapped.
"Oh Tamsin, maybe if you took your mind off your dick for 5 minutes girls might like you." Carmen mocked as Aren and Kelly laughed. From a distance Syrus looked on.
"Hey Syrus!" the cheerful boy tugged at his arm. "We should introduce ourselves."
"Arlin, are you stupid?" Syrus retorted.
"What?" Arlin frowned. "What's gotten into you lately?"
"Just drop it!"
The warning bell tolled indicating there was 10 minutes until classes began. The halls cleared as the students entered their classes in haste. From in front of the building, a group of students donning special attire surveyed the grounds.
"Everything seems clear, Captain!" Stepping forward, a girl with long cobalt hair (Akira Yuen) commented.
"Excellent!" a husky boy with dusty light brunet hair and piercing teal eyes (Alex Murasa) smirked. "You are now dismissed." He was the one that had given the announcement earlier. The group saluted and dispersed. "Yuen san."
"Yes, Captain!"
"Remember, malevolence is key when herding cattle." he gave a devilish smirk.
"Understood..."
Classes started at the bell’s second toll. The disciplinary committee made their last check around campus. All was clear.
"The first day is always the slowest, Yuen san." Alex said as he placed his notepad into his bag. She nodded. "Give it a week and the delinquents will show themselves." He started laughing. "You'll love it!"
"So it's true, Captain?"
"Depends?" he glanced over slyly.
"The stories," She paused. "Have you really gone to such measures to keep students in line?" Alex grinned wide at Akira's question.
"Do you doubt my abilities?"
"N-no, sir!" She straightened her posture.
"Anything less than perfect is just a waste of time." He scoffed in amusement. "Now, shall we?" he motioned at a door.
