In a messy bedroom, filled with the smell of scent and a blanket that’s seen better days, a young boy named Theo Anderson lies there. Theo is a shy boy, very introverted and clumsy, but he is an arrogant person who has a deep love for films. His walls have posters of The Matrix, Terminator, Kill Bill, and he is also a fan of Big Trouble in Little China. Scrolling on his phone, whatever he is watching, there is a small box of pizza on the ground, which Theo regularly eats, he bought it early in the morning. Theo has just graduated from Green Middle School, and has always dreamed of going to Aureole Academy since 5th grade. It’s the most popular school in his district, but very mysterious. Theo loves writing stories and is a very creative person. He has a racing mind, you could say.
Suddenly there’s a knock on the door. Theo doesn’t hear it at first, he is wearing earphones. But the knock gets louder and he hears his mother’s voice, ‘’Theo?’’
Theo then drops on the floor, lots of cotton and dandruff particles in the air. He rubs his hair, feeling dizzy, ‘’Oh, god.’’ He mutters to himself. He stands up but drops again, he has been sitting in the same position in his bed for hours and feels the strain of it. He decides to run to the door, grab his blue jacket, and open it, feeling like he hasn’t seen daylight in a month.
‘’Yes, mom?’’ He says with his strained eyes.
His mom looks at him, smiling. ‘’Theo’’ She pulls out a letter and shows him, ‘’You’ve been accepted into Aureole Academy.’’
Theo is shocked, ‘’What?’’ He shouts, ‘’Are you sure?’’ He can’t believe it. The school that he has always wanted to go, the school he has always searched about on his laptop, the school where he kept dreaming. He is bewildered, ‘’Please, tell me you’re lying. I can’t be hearing this; this is a dream, right? Oh my god.’’’
He hugs his mom tightly, overjoyed. Tears streaming down his face, ‘’Thank you, mom. Thank you.’’ His dream has come true. And now this is the next step in his life.
‘’I had a back-and-forth with your father about this, but it all turned out fine. I don’t think we can get back together after what he did to me.’’ She says painfully. Theo looks at her, ‘’Don’t worry, mom. I will be communicating every day. And maybe I’ll surprise him when I enter the school.’’
‘’I hope so. Get some sleep, honey. It’s late’’
Theo nods, still overjoyed. Her mother closes the door, Theo can’t take that smile off his face. He drops on the bed, holding his action figures.
‘’I’m now in Aureole…Is this a dream?’’ He thinks to himself. He then closes his eyes, ‘’No, it’s not a dream.’’
‘’It’s not a dream.’’ He says weakly one last time.
In his dream he is in a beautiful garden, filled with green plants and trees and shiny fruits. A water fountain surrounding it. Theo is standing there, chuckling lightly. He starts running around the garden collecting fruits and eating them. He stops at a large garden; the area feels heavenly. The sky sparkling with joy, a sparkling aura shines on Theo, giving him a peace of mind. He closes his eyes, and when he opens the area is gone. He is now a in a purple atmosphere, it feels different. More dark, heavy, like someone giving you a daunting task. Theo is confused, the wind is moving faster than before, as he tries to move. ‘’Hello!’’ He shouts desperately.
And then his eyes sparkle a rainbow, he sees 7 shadowy figures standing before them. The one in front runs to him, and offers him a glowing fruit. ‘’The time has come.’’ Theo is confused, he touches it and blinks. For a split second, he sees fire raining, and cages. Before his blink finishes and now he’s touching the fruit. He takes a bite and then the raining fire grows, the cages shackle, the area distorts and before all that can continue…
Theo wakes up, panting heavily. He is sweating. Shocked by the dream he had. He touches his face, looks at his fingers, he doesn’t feel any different. His timer shows 6 AM. And he stares at it.
‘’What kind of dream…’’ He thinks to himself, but shakes his head. He stands up and goes to the bathroom, brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth. He walks out, sighing, removing his pajamas and putting on his new Aureole uniform, wearing the buttoned shirt, but feels weird, ‘’This feels tight. Wait, did I gain lots of weight after I graduated?’’ He adjusts it, it makes him look fatty.
‘’Whatever.’’ He talks to himself; he puts on the trousers and wears the blazer. He opens the door and enters the sitting room, he finds his mother cooking, ‘’Hi, mom.’’
His mother looks at him, waving, ‘’Oh, hi Theo. Did you sleep well?’’
‘’Yeah, although I had a weird dream.’’
His mother chuckles, ‘’Maybe you just have a wild imagination.’’ Theo looks at her, forcing a weak smile, ‘’Yeah, probably.’’
But that type of dream isn’t something Theo would think of. He sits down and eats the eggs and bacon cooked for him.
‘’Thanks for the food.’’ He says, as he finishes eating and puts it on the counter. ‘’You’re welcome. Come back home safely, okay?’’ His mom says, a bit worried.
Theo turns around and nods, ‘’I promise.’’
Outside, he gets in the school bus, but before he enters. He turns around and waves at his mom, ‘’Bye, mom.’’
His mother waves, ‘’Bye!’’ She shouts. Theo then gets inside, the door closing on him.
This is the start of his journey; it’s going to be a wild adventure. But Theo is just getting started. He is entering Aureole Academy.
Theo gets out of the bus, holding his bag. He looks at the large school, feeling excited, ‘’Wow. It looks way better here.’’
He grabs his phone about to take a picture but someone slams it on him, making the phone drop. The person looks at him, scoffing.
‘’You’re in my way.’’ The person says. Theo looks up at the person, ‘’But you could have asked me to move.’’
The person stops for a moment and looks at him, ‘’Do you think I care about it?’’ Theo opens his mouth to answer but stops. The person pushes Theo in the grass, ‘’I don’t give a shit.’’
Theo looks at her walking, ‘’Of course they are bullies here, what did I expect?’’ He thinks to himself as he stands up, brushing himself. He grabs his phone and puts it in the pocket. He starts walking towards the gate, ‘’This is it. Aureole Academy.’’ He says as he takes the first step, and then the gate closes around him.
Little did he know, that this is the school of no return.
