Hello everyone, and welcome to Basic Cable. As you might expect from the branding, this is a serial work of fiction taking place in the near future – the late 2030s in particular. I will leave it to Nina Constantinos and the rest of the cast to show you where the world has gone in the interim, but I will say that history does not always move in a straight line and that the future we expect from the movies is not always the future we get.

New segments will post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will form the “present” timeline while Sundays will dwell a bit on the “past.” After all, history is important, especially when it hasn’t happened yet.

One last thing! For those that care about continuity and how our present reality informs the future, I should note that Basic Cable’s future is not entirely our future. There is a point in what we would call the past, not too far back, when Nina Constantinos’ reality parted ways with ours. Where that happened isn’t really important, but if little things seem amiss, don’t blame me – just follow the butterflies home.
