The Western Forest of Oakhaven was peaceful like always. Birds chirped, boars snorted, slimes slid. Slimes were a constant reminder of the dark magic in these lands. They existed just to passively soak up the remnants of death and despair, the bottom of the hierarchy. Although, if one were to ask a slime what they thought of their existence you wouldn't get an answer. You'd get...

Brrrup.

...which would be the sounds of a pack of slimes passively absorbing nutrients and expelling dirt from the ground. Despite the ominous sign of slimes and other low level monsters appearing around a peaceful border town like Oakhaven, life really wasn't all that different. In fact, the town made a great profit in keeping the monster population around. This was because wherever these monsters popped up a certain breed of person came along with it. Glory seeking adventurers. 

Adventurers varied from rank to rank, region to region, and tended to be nomadic people by nature staying in one place for a job before moving on. As such, the merchant guilds banded together to make a specialized and widespread Adventurer's Guild to help streamline the process, and make more money. Places like Oakhaven thus became well known hotspots for aspiring and novice adventurers to come gain real experience fighting monsters and pushing their limits. 

This is where we find our heroes of this grand tale. The F-rank adventurer trio of Elara Stormwind, Kael Stauer, and Meira Kitt. The three of them were following the standard adventurer progression chart:

- Training 
- Herb Gathering
- Supervised Monster Hunting
- Solo Monster Hunting
- E Rank test

This standardized system helped the Adventurer's guild weed out the truly determined from the starry eyed hopefuls. Elara, Kael, and Meria however, were the wheat. They were the most promising trio of F-rank adventurers in Oakhaven known for their strong personalities and fierce determination. It was pretty much a given that the three of them would finish the probationary F-rank phase of being an adventurer so no one expected the incredible tragedy about to befall their spirited leader, Elara Stormwind.

She is a kind girl, the type you see in other manga. A bit airheaded, fiercely determined, and bright eyed. She fit the classic hero stereotype even in her own world, so it wasn't much of a surprise that she decided to become a hero reminiscent of The Golden Knight of Change. He was the first and greatest hero humanity had ever produced after all. Though his story has since become a legend people tell children to remind them to behave since the monsters, demons, and calamities of his time have long passed. Little did she know though her dream would come true just with someone else behind the wheel.
