Will was very scared. After all, it WAS his first day of Blackburn Junior High. He had wanted to go to this school all his life, but he had always lived in Boston, and the school was in California, so you can imagine how hard it would be for his family to travel there.
"Mom, do you have my inhaler?" He asked while walking down the stairs.
"Yup! I've got it right here! You'd better hurry up! School starts in ten minutes."
"Okay!"
Will had had asthma for as long as he could remember. He couldn't play any sports, because of that, even though he'd LOVED watching sports, and his dream was to play sports, once his asthma cleared up.
Meanwhile, John sat at home, having been trying to reach a goal for fifty straight battle royales since the day before. He had actually gotten pretty close!
"John! Get ready for school! You don't want to be late!" his mom yelled from the stairs.
"Can I at least play one more round?" he replied.
"No! You need to get ready."
"It's just one round," he mumbled under his breath so his mom didn't hear him.
While John was getting ready, he found a trophy in his room from when he was seven, and remembered how he won that gaming championship in second grade. But it wasn't for an actual game. It was for this math game called prodigy. As he thought back to that day, he remembered something. He was against this guy named Will in that championship.
At Lucy's house, Lucy has now spent an hour putting on her makeup.
"Lucy, please hurry up! I haven't even brushed my teeth!" her brother yelled from outside the bathroom.
"I'm almost done! Just wait!" Lucy replied, fully knowing it was going to take another fifteen minutes, the same amount of time they had until the bus got to their house.
At the bus stop, Lucy, John, and Will all stood there, waiting for the bus in silence for a few minutes.
