It takes place some time in autumn... in middle of fallen leaves and pumpkin scents but... since a last few day's we've been getting an unexpected visitor at our doorsteps... or rather garden fences... with pale green skin and grace of a predatory... she stands there stealing glances at our resident mantis Eidos when ever he's out just enjoying some floral tea or just pruning the plans... the lady visitor at our fences was a mantis too... a tall and pretty lady at that she seems to have taken a liking to our spiked hand Eidos... but whenever she passes by... instead of the warmth of a new love blooming... all of the garden gets painted with that chill of dread... again... mantis mating... means losing your head over your girl... literally...
Whenever her shadow passes by the gardens Eidos freezes he had stopped going anywhere near the fences since last couple of days... I'll be honest I have never seen my mantis martial artist this terrified... ever before... he was always one to protect our defenseless cuckoo wasp Cido... but I can't blame him... love is... deadly for him... but today our totally oblivious spotted lantern fly thinks it would be adorable for Eidos to have a girlfriend... clearly not realizing the implication... no matter how many times I explain it to him... so one day Chroma decided it would be a good idea to invite our new creepy visitor inside... side note we all were mortified.
Our poor defenseless fluff ball Cido was so scared for his friend, he grabbed a broom and planted himself between Eidos and the lady mantis — the very 'guest' our lovable dummy lantern fly invited in to play cupid... poor jewel wasp was shaking holding the broom up to a predator three times taller than him telling the lady mantis "g-get out of h-here... o-o-or it won't end we-well" Eidos just froze in his with his hands on Cido's shoulders... now who was comforting whom at that moment even I don't know.
Chroma still not understanding the situation was asking Nicro our American burying beetle that "What's wrong? she's a pretty mantis lady..." and rather than trying to reason with Chroma Nicro just stated solemnly "don't worry Eidos... we will always remember you... I'll make the most beautiful grave in your honor" which obviously earned a glare from Eidos and "he's not dead yet Nicro" from me.
In the end I had to take the matter in my own hands getting the lady mantis out I raised the fences and got an industry grade bug spray Eidos was relived when the lady mantis stopped showing up the only one complain about it was Chroma he still believes it could've been a 'lovely' love story... for now everyone get's to keep their heads in our gardens.
I don't know how long will I be able to stay sane at this point...
