The universe, a vast area of space filled with many planets that have many creatures, however, this story takes place in a specific part of the universe. A place known as Earth in the milky way galaxy, the third planet from its sun. The people of this planet are born with abilities that help them in their everyday life, with some ending up as heroes, to others being villains. There are even those who become explorers of the unknown, wanting to use their powers to explore the vast nature of their world. Our story takes place with a young man, this particular young man is special though he doesn't know it yet. His story has already begun.
Seraphim Star, age 17, lay on the ground of the cafeteria, blood lay nearby as he struggled to get to his feet. Another student, a tall young man wearing a brown trench coat and fedora named Ace, stood tall above him laughing with his friends and other students at Seraphim. "You shouldn't have tried to pick a fight with me Sera, it's just isn't in the cards for you to win!" Ace said as he held up a deck of playing cards that floated in his palm. Seraphim chuckled as he got to his feet, his busted lip leaking blood down his chin. A teacher came by and rushed the students away, grabbing Seraphim by his jacket, and dragging him away grumbling about the paperwork he was gonna have to fill out for this. Unfortunately, this was a normal day for Seraphim, a day where he gets in trouble for a fight that he didn't start because he didn't fight back and being the one to get in trouble for it.
After getting chewed out by the teacher, Seraphim walked out and began to wander the halls of the school. Stark's high school, a place that teaches students how to live with their powers and use them responsibly. Seraphim was the odd kid in school, always staring up at the sky and daydreaming about the stars. The way he dressed, normally in a jacket and ripped jeans, and the fact that he didn't use his powers caused students to just see him as useless. Seraphim headed to the football field to relax after his beating, his lip already healed up. When he got there he laid back in the grass watching the clouds pass. He doesn't have much time left of school, and an excited grin appears on his face as he stares up at the sky. "I've always wondered why things seemed weird for me and finally when I graduate, Aunty Patricia will tell me." He sighed happily closing his eyes until he heard a scream causing him to sit up.
He looked over at the bleachers and saw them icing over, ice that looked oddly familiar to him. He got up and ran over jumping on top of the bleachers to look down and see a girl with half icy blue hair and half snow-white hair. Ice sprouted from her feet and created pillars from the ground blocking what appeared to be roses flying at her. This ice girl's name was Eira Frost, an ice magic user who could call forth an ax with a handle as tall as she was. Across from her stood three girls in cheerleader uniforms, the leader with reddish-pink hair, and her two lackeys having red skin and green hair. The cheerleaders laughed and seemed to be bragging about something but Seraphim couldn't hear what they were saying. The leader of the cheerleaders, a tall girl with reddish-pink hair named Rosalie, had roses floating around her and was shooting them at Eira. Eira blocked the roses with ease, using ice pillars as shields. She sent a stream of ice across the ground and froze Rosalie in a large ice sculpture. Her two lackeys had to pick her up and carry her away, the faint sound of shouting could be heard from the ice that she would get revenge.
Eira shouted out in anger, punching the bleacher and looking up at the sky, where she saw Seraphim watching from above. To Seraphims surprise, Eiras's personality seemed to do a complete 180 when she saw him. An ice platform formed from under her and lifted her till she was face to face with him, a huge smile appearing on her face and she looked at him. "How you been Firestar, I was looking for you till those cheerleaders butted in." She said reaching for his hand, but he quickly jerked it away and jumped back. "E-Eira how you been don't know why you're looking for me but I didn't do anything," Seraphim said walking backward down the bleachers as Eira followed him. Her smile grew bigger as she said "Awe you know I wouldn't want to hurt you, my feelings for you are true."
Seraphim blushed brightly and told Eira to close her eyes cuz he had a surprise for her. She did so much excitement appearing on her face as she did. When Eira opened her eyes, however, her excitement was replaced with disappointment as Seraphim had runoff. He walked through the halls and ended up on the other side of the school. He sighed thinking about how weird Eira could be, acting like she was in love with him. That stuff didn't interest Seraphim, and her whole attitude flip seemed weird, she was aggressive and angry but whenever she would see Seraphim she would act all lovey-dovey with him, it creeped him out. A few hours passed and Seraphim finally went to his classes but he mainly just slept rather than focusing. After class activities were starting and unfortunately for Seraphim, he had to go to sparring practice. A tournament for fighters and mages from various schools was coming up and Seraphim had the privilege of watching the strongest students at his school train.
Seraphim lay with his back against the edge of the bleachers, Eira sitting near him. They watched students train for a tournament that happens once a year, a tournament that pits the elites of the schools against each other. Eira talked to Seraphim but he tuned her out. Just as he was beginning to fall asleep cuts appeared on his cheeks as a playing card and rose stuck themselves into the wall behind him. Ace and Rosalie stood in front of Seraphim, playing cards and roses floating around them as they laughed. "What makes you think you can sleep on our performance?" Ace asked, laughing at Seraphim. They shot more cards and roses at Seraphim but a wall of ice shot up between them. Eira stood there anger in her eyes as she growled at them "Stay away from him before I hurt you!"
Seraphim watched as Eira and the two bullies fought, other students chanting fight repeatedly as they duked it out. Unfortunately for Eira, her ice couldn't prevent Aces magic cards from cutting through and hitting her. Eira tried her best to block the attacks but they were proving to be too much for her. Eventually, they broke through the ice and managed to pin Eira down. They laughed getting another attack ready, a large spear made from cards and roses but before the attack could touch Eira, a sword flew through the air meeting the attack head-on. The sword bounced off the attack and landing in Seraphims hand. It was a large sword, the blade long and broad, with a bronze guard that featured a star on it. Seraphim swung the sword so the guard rested on his shoulder as he walked to stand between Eira and the two bullies.
In anger, Ace and Rosalie fired more cards and roses at Seraphim who cut them down easily, the large sword moving effortlessly in his hands as if it weighed less than a feather. The two yelled out, and created a large wall of cards rose canons aiming down at Seraphim from over the walls in front of them. Seraphim could hear them shouting from behind the wall that anything he did would be useless against them, their wall of rose cards was impenetrable. Seraphim moved his sword so the blade rested on his back, its blade beginning to glow red like fire as Seraphim asked a question out loud, "Ready Darkmonster?" When he asked this the sword seemed to growl when he asked. He threw the sword shouting "MONSTER CUTTER!" the sword began to spin through the air and crashed into the wall. Sparks flew from where the sword met the wall, Ace and Rosalie began laughing as Rosalie said "See, we told you nothing you could do would work!"
That's when they heard a loud snap coming from the wall. Seraphims sword burst into flames as it spun, the force of the attack being powered by the fire and starting to cut through the wall. Seraphim ran through the hole his sword created, grabbing it by its hilt and cutting down the two bullies. Their eyes rolled back and they fell forward Seraphim saying "Don't worry I use the flat of the blade so you shouldn't be hurt too bad." Everyone stood stunned as Seraphims sword vanished in a burst of fire. He held out his hand and helped Eira up, walking away afterward. After he left the coach walked up to Eira and asked her if she could convince her friend to join the team. Eira looked in the direction that Seraphim was heading, thinking that she would talk to him.
