Somewhere in Candy Land, there is a bakery shaped like a cake, coated with some pastel colored frosting. “It is known for the bestest cupcakes known to man,” they’d say.
The sun shines happily and brightly, the cotton candy clouds are in the sky, and every gummy bear is lined up to grab their plate of whatever they ordered at the bakery. The menu is the same as usual, but some gummy bears have heard that there’s gonna be something new coming soon!
“Next!” A lady yelled out for another customer to come up to the front. The red gummy bear walked up to grab a plate of small, twisted marshmallows coated in milk chocolate with a cupcake to the side.
“You look marvelous today as usual, Miss Sprinkle Joy!” Said the red gummy bear.
“Why, thank you!” She responded politely with a smile so bright and genuine.
It’s true that Miss Sprinkle Joy looks marvelous as usual, standing there behind the front table while looking pretty. Her pastel blue hair tied into twin buns, a dress that perfectly fits the concept of a cake in a cup-shaped mold, light pink and blue leggings that are coated in some sprinkles, and white mary jane shoes are miraculous!
The red gummy bear leaves the bakery with their plate as the green one goes next.
Hours have passed, which felt like a thousand years for some reason, and the bakery is closed for now. Miss Sprinkle Joy needed her rest for the big day tomorrow, and that “big day” is the famous event where other patissiers take their baked goods to the Candy Land’s castle.
~ The Next Day, which is the Big Day ~
Miss Sprinkle Joy opened her cinnamon brown eyes and yawned as she stretched her slim arms. Getting ready for the queen’s party on the big day today, she made sure her outfit was suitable for it. It’s mainly her usual dress for when she works on Monday to Saturdays.
She walked out the front door of her house, holding a basket of cupcakes with light blue, pink, and yellow frosting, as she headed down the pathway to the castle overlaid with bits of sugar far away.
Passing by the gumdrops, lollipops sticking out of the ground, gummy bears were greeting and being nice to each other as they should. Every day is peaceful as it should be.
After a while of walking, two of the chocolate knights opened the big doors for her as she made her way inside the castle. In her sight is the Candy Queen sitting on her throne, gasping in surprise at the presence of Miss Sprinkle Joy.
“My, my, look how tall you’ve grown! It’s been a while since I’ve last seen you. The last time I saw you was when you were a teenager dreaming to be a baker one day!” The Candy Queen chirps as she stands up from her throne and walks down that little staircase to greet the other four.
One is a lady who baked cinnamon rolls and coated them with cream cheese frosting, the second is a man who bakes any flavor of pies such as cherries or apples, the third is also a man who just freshly make bread from scratch (bread such as croissants and baguette), and the last is a lady whose career revolves around all kinds of cookies.
They all sat down at the big table where the sweet and sugary feast is ready for all to eat.
“Hey Mister Pie, did you know that I once accidentally ruined my mother’s kitchen?” Asked the lady who baked cinnamon rolls and buns for a living.
“Oh dear, how did you burn- I mean ruined your mother’s kitchen, Miss Cinnamon?” Asked the man who baked pies.
“It all started when I just decided to drop out of school and focus on baking cinnamon rolls and buns for the best of my mother’s bakery!” She replied, “When after I baked them, I left the oven on for so long that it exploded! My mother scolded me for what seemed like an hour, having to pay for another fancy oven with those cracker tokens.”
Miss Cinnamon and Mister Pie then heartily laughed together with their arms wrapped around each other’s waists, their other hands holding a glass cup of chocolate milk with marshmallow cubes.
“Mind you, it was the best day of my life, Miss Mararoon.” Said the man who bakes bread for the sake of his career.
“Oh my, Mister Dough, you’re so lucky that you’re married to someone! Heavens, I wish I’m married to someone so that they can help me with the cookies.” Said the woman who makes cookies for a living.
They chitter chatter on and on about the best days of their lives with manners of a civil somebody at the big table.
Meanwhile, Miss Sprinkle Joy doesn’t talk to anyone nor laugh heartily with them. She just watches them have fun with a small smile on her face, wanting to start a conversation with them at some point. But the thing is, she’s a little too nervous because it’s been a while since she has talked to them.
“What if they’ve changed from being nice to cruel?” She worries in her mind.
Looking around the big table where the other four are having a good time, her cinnamon brown eyes spotted Mister Dough. Knowing that bread doesn’t count as a sweet, it’s kinda funny that he’s here in Candy Land. But the gummy bears, animal crackers, and the other bakers liked his breads nonetheless. Maybe he had moved from someplace else? Who knows.
Somewhere in Candy Land, everyone is living happily ever after! But wait, Miss Sprinkle Joy is a little too curious about the other world that the Candy Queen once spoke of. The thing is, the other world is not as pretty as Candy Land
