Chapter 1

Tarin Jacobs was a normal person, of course other than the entire superhero persona he now had with his friends. And the fact that a company known as Genex was trying to use their abilities for some reason. Right also if you haven’t read the first book, you should probably do that. Right now they have to worry about the ever looming threat of Dr. Méndez and Genex. Tarin and his friends didn’t like the thought of it, but they had to put thought into the idea that they might have to take on an entire company. For now though they wanted to help people, and not worry about anything else.

Tarin ran through the streets, “Hey Max, anything?”

A few seconds later Max responded, “Nothing.”

“Aaron, Colton?”

“Nothing but a few thousand people staring at me flying.” Aaron said,

“Nothing on this end either.” Said Colton.

Sorra, one of their newest members of the group, came in on the intercoms. “Guys, you're being paranoid. Wait for them to come to you, if you stay out there they’ll catch you for sure.”

“I agree.” Said Max and Colton,

“I’m down for a break.” Said Aaron,

Tarin nodded to himself, “Ya, we could use a break.”

Once they all got to home base they found Sorra and Eithan, the new members of the group, sitting at the communication desk and looking over the cameras that they’d put on the Genex building to spy on Méndez.

Tarin stretched his arm, “What a nice run.”

Eithan laughed, “Technically, for you that was just a jog, and you know it too.”

Sorra turned around, “True, you run so fast people barely see you. When you jog, that’s when things like this appear on the internet.” She held out her laptop showing a document that read ‘Red Dash, the fastest man alive?’

Train shrugged, “I don’t see why that’s a problem, I am the fastest man alive.”

“True, from what we know you are.” Said Max, he looked over to the cameras. “Hey, do we have any information on Méndez yet? We know he has something, maybe a power?”

Tarin nodded, “He said whatever was wrong with him and with us did something else to him. He said I was the answer to that problem.”

Eithan nodded, “So he needs your blood to use his ability?”

Colton shook his head thinking, “He said it affected him differently, in a way he didn’t expect. He must need us to fix that, so maybe a disease?”

“Or another way his ability affected him?” Suggested Sorra, “You know, he said he needed Red Dashes blood. Maybe he has electric powers, he needs more electrons from you.”

Tarin shook his head, “He’d need my brain makeup, and for that he’d need a full brain transplant. Not my blood.”

Colton shrugged, “Maybe he’s a speedster? His hand did shake when he looked at it, really fast too.”

Eithan was looking around the room, “I’m still confused about what happened.”

Max turned to Eithan, “Christepher Méndez kidnapped us and said he needed our blood to survive the effects of his powers, and to activate them in general. It seemed he had something planned involving us, but we didn’t stick around long enough to find out.” Said Mac.

Eithan turned to Tarin, “I guess all your conspiracy theories were right.”

Tarin shook his head, “Well obviously they were right, and they weren’t conspiracy theories.”

Eithan nodded, “Sure.”

“Doesn’t matter you two.” Said Sorra, “We gotta get that plant. If it’s the answer, it can’t be on a campus that Méndez has access to.”

“Are we still going with that plan?” Asked Aaron, “Isn’t that suicide? We all get in and out of the reserve?”

Eithan leaned into a chair, “We said we would consider it if we didn’t find anything unusual in Genex, me and Sorra have been searching for weeks and we haven’t found anything.”

Colton put his hand on Aaron’s shoulder, “It’s not the most dangerous thing we’ve done.”

Aaron nodded, “Alright, but how are we getting in without being noticed?”

Tarin nodded, “What if we jump off another building? Honestly, that would be pretty fun.”

Eithan and Sorra looked and Tarin, “You jumped off a building?” Eithan asked.

Tarin nodded, “When we escaped from Méndez.”

Colton shook his head, “I can’t jump off a building again, just because I’m athletic doesn’t mean I can’t feel pain from it.”

Max nodded, “I shouldn’t either, if I jump into the reserve it’ll be too loud.”

Tarin turned to Aaron, “Guess this is a light-dash mission.”

Aaron smiled, “Let’s do it!”
