Chosen Ones: Element of Reality
Chapter 1
Alright, once again. I know, why is there another!? Trust me, I wish I knew. My life is kinda surrounded by these things now though, so, you're kinda stuck like this.
Anyway, if you don’t know who I am. My name is Johnathan Brody, I am a Reality Mage who goes to the MDSC. And I’m almost done with school, well kinda. I’ve been going to the MDSC for three years now, before then I was just a weird kid. Technically if I didn’t go to the mages I may have caused a nuclear explosion, but hey you never know. Anyway, over those years I learned many things. Magic, secrets, and how there's a secret cult powerful enough they almost destroyed the multiverse. So, ya. Guess what I have to deal with. For the three years I’ve been at the MDSC I’ve also had a target on my head because I was a reality mage, and that was only really made known until last year. I was being attacked by a spy, and I just didn’t feel like being attacked so I tried to beat them in a fight. Sadly they got away, but their presence is known by the entire magical community. Alright, does that rape it up? Great, let’s get past the annoying part.
Johnathan was hit in the head hard, and almost lost his balance. He looked up at the towering figure above him. “Imma make you pay for insulting me, Brody.”
It was weird for Brooks Bennet to be calling Johnathan by his last name, but it was annoying how he couldn’t use magic to beat him. “That was a whole year ago Bennet,” Johnathan said, copying Brooks, “Plus, you were never able to beat me anyway.”
Brooks went for a right hook, which if you ever went to the MDSC, knew that was a bad move to any skilled magician. Johnathan grabbed Brooks fist out of the air, and twisted it to the left. Making Brooks yell in agony. Johnathan smiled, and kicked Brooks back. “Oh I’ll beat you all right, to a pulp!” Brooks yelled, he ran at Johnathan and tried to headbutt him. Also a bad move for anyone against a magic wielder. Johnathan put his hands close together, and created a small brick in his hand. Johnathan made sure nobody saw what was about to happen and pushed it into Brooks head, making him fall down and groan.
“A pulp huh?” Johnathan looked at himself, “Don’t feel like a pulp yet.” Johnathan smiled and walked into the high school he used to go to, and waited for his ride. Brooks had always been a pain in the back, but if the Mages figured out he’d used magic for non-magical purposes. It wouldn’t be the best reputation when he went to work for NEXUS. The Master Knight, headmaster of the MDSC, had set him up for a job at the biggest superhero organization in the world. The Nexus of Extraordinary eXperts Uniting for Supernatural defense. I know, super catchy right? Johnathan felt a breeze go past him, and felt a sort of strange energy. He had felt it before, and he smiled. “There’s no way you came all the way over here bud.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Said Johnathan’s best friend, Albert Duncan. “We have to get to school early, and might as well go together.”
He passed Johnathan a bag, which had all of his secret magic items. Wand, books, notes, and even his old uniforms. “Thanks, Al. Ready to see Naamah?” Johnathan smiled, “You know what I’m really asking.”
Albert blushed a bit, “Why do you do this to me?”
Johnathan laughed, Albert had always had this crush on a friend of theirs from the Demon dimension. He’d announced his feelings for her last year, and were still dating. As far as Johnathan knew at least.
“Are you going on your first date yet? The dance doesn’t count, I messed that one up.” Johnathan said.
Albert nodded, “Yep, almost getting killed really bummed everyone out.”
Johnathan smiled, “Well, who knows maybe we’ll do it again!”
Albert nodded, “First let’s get through this year, come on.”
Johnathan got up and started walking with Albert.
