Chosen Ones: Forever Chaos
Chapter 1
Alright, already breaking the fourth wall. Does that count if it’s the beginning of the book? I don’t care actually. Anyway, if you didn’t hear the last hero file. Well, good luck trying to understand it. I got some weird prophecy that I was told to figure out, and that just made it worse of a year. Now it’s actually the worst year of all, because of the controlled spy that has been in the MDSC for the last few years. They are planning to kill me in two days at our school dance, and sadly, me and my friend Albert know who it is. Albert’s girlfriend, Naamah. Ya, sounds crazy right? Well not to Johnathan, he’s seen weirder here. That’s what the weird little Oracle said at least, A friend will smile in your face, then snarl at your back. Johnathan only had two friends, Albert and Naamah. If Sebastian was the spy it would make sense, but Naamah?
“Alright.” Albert said, still a bit shaky from Johnathan’s trip into the communication with the spy. “Naamah is probably the spy, correct?”
Johnathan nodded, “Probably.” He said.
“So, I have to talk to her about going to the dance and try to keep an eye on her.” Albert continued.
Johnathan nodded, “Sounds right.” Then Johnathan thought of something, “Did Naamah leave during the last dance?”
Albert nodded, “Then we supposedly both heard the crash and went to find you.”
Johnathan nodded, “Alright, so her alibi isn’t so good. She’s at the top. What about Sebastian?”
Albert shook his head, “Why are you so sure it’s Sebastian when we’ve already figured out it’s Naamah?”
Johnathan shrugged, “Just covering the basis.”
Albert shook his head, “He was in the gym during the time of the attack.”
Johnathan nodded, “Well then that limits the list pretty well.” Johnathan went over to a white board and wrote down two names, Naamah, and Sebastian. “I mean if it really is a student that is.”
Albert made a sad sounding sound and nodded, “Yes, it is the best way.”
Johnathan wasn’t good with helping people feel better, but Albert was his best friend. He had to help, he patted Albert’s shoulder. “It’s ok, I’m sure it’s Sebastian. We know nothing about him. The only information we have on Naamah is how she used to be on the Important’s side, or the Controllers side really.”
Albert nodded, “That’s a pretty good reason.” He said.
“Or,” Johnathan continued, “It could be somebody totally random right? Maybe someone who could kill me in some other timeline?”
Albert shook his head, “You're the one taking Time magic classes, I’m pretty sure you should already know the answer to that question.”
It was true, people could travel to other timelines, but only one person in the multiverse has ever mastered that spell. The Master Knight. “So then, let’s go face this spy then.” Johnathan jumped down from his bed.
Albert stood up, “What? Right now?”
“Like Mr. Jacobs always said, ‘No time like the present!’” Johnathan said, even though Mr. Jacobs has never said that in the time that Johnathan has known him.
Albert looked like he was about to protest, but stopped. “You know what, maybe this was good for me.” He stood up and looked up at Johnathan, “Do you know the reason we were put together?”
Johnathan shook his head, “Because Ms. Gorgan thought we’d hate each other?”
Albert shook his head, “I wanted to help you become more like me, I wanted to see the kind of people I could help. Maybe I got it the wrong way around by helping you.” He gritted his teeth, “You were my assignment, but I think I became yours.” Johnathan was shocked, he never expected that.
Johnathan nodded, “Makes sense, I was a troubled student then.”
Albert nodded, “Exactly, I wanted to be a teacher and I needed to deal with the hard kids. I thought you could help me, I was right, and I was wrong. You helped me deal with the hard kids, you.” He sighed, “So, what’s our plan to catch the spy/Naamah?”
Johnathan nodded, “Well, first you have to keep an eye on her during the dance. I can make a duplicate of myself to try and distract her, make her think I’m going off on my own again.”
Albert nodded, “Good, I’ll let her go after you. Even if it's for some weird reason.”
“What was it last time?” Johnathan asked.
Albert shrugged, “She just said she needed to go to the bathroom. Either way, she’ll go after you then I can make some kind of illusion to trick her up.”
Johnathan nodded, “What about glass prison? Isn’t that a glass spell?”
Albert nodded, “Perfect, then I think we should interrogate her. Then call the Master Knight in.”
“And how would we do that?” Asked Johnathan
Albert smiled, “By telling him I’m trying to kill my girlfriend of course.”
