Chroma Vile: Chronicles

Coffee Shop I

Coffee Shop I

Sep 18, 2024

In the town of Luitol, specifically the imperial side, a small shop had been built. It was a hot spot for people from all places, possibly one of the best spots to visit in the entirety of Choshire. The shop was a coffee shop, it had dark brown walls, wood flooring, a white gable roof, and expansive windows that proudly displayed what the coffee shop was about. There was even a small path leading to it with decor and lights leading toward the entrance.

The coffee shop had signs that would display popular menu items, such as the 'Shammy', the special drink which originated in pre-historic Luitol. The drink's recipe remained a secret, all that was known was that it was a combination of pre-historic techniques and the creator's.

Amna was what the creator called herself, she had introduced coffee throughout Choshire, and taught others how to make it herself. The Shammy required more than just technique, it was created with many ingredients that only grew in the town of Luitol, and conditions were only able to be met in the area the coffee shop was built.

Despite all the fame the coffee shop had, she was always in the backlines, she never wanted to put herself in the spotlight, or deal with any unnecessary trouble fame would've brought to her. She just wanted to live a peaceful life with that person she loved, and something to do while she lived. She didn't want to be recognized by anyone other than the person she loved.

Amna loved Lady Shamhat; however, love to her didn't just mean appearances or one time encounters. The meaning of love to Amna was dedication, support, and appreciation. She looked up to Lady Shamhat, her determination to hold an empire as massive as Luitol, the way she collected herself around others, and her beautiful demeanor. Amna would leave coin everyday in the fountain of luck, praying that one day she would be able to meet her, and confess her love.

With that in mind, she had also named her shop 'Ladies Coffee'. A name she believed was fitting of that who held her heart, a name that was eloquent, and beautiful. Amna had gone through several years of work, to put together an spectacle that she believed would one day be recognized by Lady Shamhat. Even if they had never seen each other eye to eye, she was dedicated to hold her hand.

As for who Amna was, she didn't even know herself. All that once identified her was gone, her life had no meaning or identity to begin with, so she had made her own. She had beautiful long white hair with teal coloring at the tips of each strand, and she wore a long white dress decorated with hearts and blue butterflies that complimented her pearly skin tone. She had a lot of patience, a lot of dedication, and always saw everything around her positively regardless of the situation.

But why a coffee shop?

"I wonder why, each day I savor this drink, it feels familiar. Yet, I've never had a taste of it before," Amna seen bewildered as she felt a nostalgic taste flowing from the drink. She might've not invented the drink, but no one else in Choshire had discovered or even attempted the recipe before. Her eyes moved to the heading on the note, indicating that the drink was once named 'Coffee' in pre-historic times.

She sat on a chair inside her room, took small sips of coffee, and stared at the recipe for a while. At the moment, she lived in a big house with several other people she didn't know. She had no guidance on how to be, she had no knowledge of what parents were. She just lived her life as it was given to her.

Amna wondered what to do next in life, she wasn't a quitter. She wanted to find a goal, a meaning to her empty life, a reason to her existence. Every single day since she woke up in a mural surrounded with beautiful flowers, she asked herself the same questions. And even if she did find a reason, she always wondered what was after. A throne surrounded with riches in a huge beautiful castle? An eloquent marriage in the town center?

While she remained in thought, knocking could be heard coming from her door, "Amna! I know you're in there, we've had an important announcement. All people are to show at the welcoming of our new leader. The welcoming will occur at the town center by noon, we shall expect you there," a man spoke outside her room in enthusiasm.

Amna stood up from her chair and made another cup of coffee. "Hmm, might as well take a nice warm drink out there. It is cold anyway," she spoke cautiously, only speaking her thoughts to herself. The town center wasn't far away from the place she lived in, so she decided to take her time walking. There was no reason to rush anything, no reason to do anything any other way.

She didn't have anyone she could consider a friend, she didn't have anyone or anything in her life besides herself. It is only until now, that she had something to consider hers, whether it was just a drink didn't matter to her. A piece of paper with a recipe was the only card she was dealt in life and she believed there was a reason for it.

She worked endlessly to find the ingredients listed on the recipe, she worked hard to master the technique - all just to brew coffee she believed would honor those who originally created it in pre-historic times. But what after that? Would she drink it all on her own? She didn't know.

The clocks ticked noon, as she arrived at the town center. A huge quiet crowd surrounded the stage, military soldiers, and influential people stood at the front seemingly waiting for someone. In that instant, bright sunshine pointed toward a certain spot on the path leading toward the stage. A band played with their instruments creating beautiful sound, the scent of flowers covered the area, as a lovely thorned rose approached the stage.

Amna couldn't believe her eyes. Beautiful blonde hair, marvelous red dress, smooth red lips, and gentle pale skin. The thorned rose sat on the throne atop the stage, gentle wind formed around the crowd, birds chirping in the distance, all while a soft tune played. Amna's heart throbbing did not feel like anything she's ever experienced before, it was an unknown feeling, and just in that moment she discovered it.

"Today we shall welcome the honored Lady Shamhat to her well-deserved throne. Starting today, Luitol must follow command from her. She's proven to be fearless, powerful, and a masterful problem solver," a man kneeled next to her while proudly uttering his statement in front of the massive crowd. Lady Shamhat made no gestures or spoke any words, she simply remained sitting on her throne, staring emptily at the crowd beneath her.

Amna didn't know what to do in her situation. Would she have to find a doctor? Find special medicine? Was she having a heart attack? She didn't know. "I.. need to go back to my room. I feel... weird?" Amna spoke cautiously as her breath cut short and her heart palpitated loudly.
