It was a normal day in my small, sparsely furnished room. The room looked more like a cell than staff quarters, but I consoled myself that this was where I was paid to sit... The room had a few essential pieces of furniture, such as a bed, a toilet, and a sink. I used the latter to get ready for the day.
As I had finally managed to get myself together, another Foundation employee approached the door from the other side. He had a higher position than me, as did most of the people working here. He pushed a tray of food through a small flap in the door, then left without a word. I looked at the plate. Well, I had expected something other than a fried egg and bacon, but I had nothing to complain about.
After eating the meal I was given, the door to my quarters opened, which meant I had to go to briefing, or at least that's what it was called here. The briefing was a weekly event that all Class-D personnel attended. We were forced into the auditorium by the scientists working here and lined up in two lines. I stood in the back line.
One of the scientists began counting us to make sure we were all there, and after a while he finally spoke.
- As you probably know, in a few days we will be sending you back to your homes, but some of you will be staying with the Foundation for a while longer. Those in the front row: we are moving you to Site Twelve. The rest can go home.
-(Although that's a good thing, I was hoping that the last three days before my release would pass quickly. I'm sick of this place.)
- According to Foundation rules, you will receive your reward for your cooperation, and your knowledge of anomalous objects will be erased with an amnesiac. That's all for today, you will have answers to any questions soon.
The group stood in silence for a moment, broken only by the whispers of some of us, when suddenly the alarm went off. I saw a large group of guards running towards Sector Five. No D-class had access to it, and (apart from the scientists and guards) no one who had entered had managed to leave. We evacuated to our rooms, the doors slamming shut behind us, with only the sound of distant shouting and a few gunshots. It took about an hour for everything to calm down, at least for now. After that incident, nothing else happened for the rest of the day.
Hello everyone, my name is Aiden, or D-4347. I'm from Texas. I've been working for the Foundation for... well, so long that I've lost track of time. I only work for the Foundation because I had financial troubles. You can’t just leave it on your own; to get out, they have to release you. It just so happens that they’ll be letting me go soon. I hope these last few days here will pass quickly.
How did I end up here? I got a message from an unknown number offering me a job, though I had no idea back then what I was getting into…
I was transferred to Site-73, whatever that is… There are a lot of armed people here, which should mean that this place is safe, right?
I don’t feel safe here; this place seems… strangely suspicious. I hope that once they let me go, I’ll never have to come back to this cursed place again…
