Tatsuki
In this world, apart from male and female, the population are also divided by three types of secondary genders—Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. Among Alphas and Omegas, there is this special connection that is called the fated pair.
Fated pair is the situation where the Alpha and the Omega are connected by soul, and their body is very compatible. In turn for this compatibility, pairing system—which is, the Alpha biting the Omega’s neck during heat—is a mandatory act that permanently bind them together. However, this fated pair is deemed troublesome and restraining by some of the Alphas and Omegas, because it narrowed down the range of their target who they wanted to fall in love with and as for established lovers who weren’t fated pair, disturb their happiness.
Because of that, in year 20XX, Japan had managed to create a remedy to control the pairing instincts of Alphas and Omegas who didn’t want to became a pair with each other to accidentally become one. This is indeed a revolutionary for the secondary genders especially for the Alphas and Omegas, because their condition of becoming a forceful pair with someone they didn’t like won’t be the obstacle for them to love who they wanted.
It’s been a few years since then, and I told you, the surroundings felt much better.
My name is Kida Tatsuki, a 26 years old office worker, and was now waiting for my boyfriend inside this newly established café that is popular with their waiter and waitresses putting up an acrobatic performance on the stage located at the one side of the café. Other than the stage, table sets were arranged with considerable distance from each other, making it convenient in terms of interior design and beautifully aesthetic.
“Tatsuki-kun, I’m sorry for being late!”
My boyfriend for 3 years, Ouka Sakurai immediately took his seat in front of me, his pale cheeks reddened from when he ran to here. I let out a soft chuckle before smiling gently at him. He looks very cute.
“Don’t worry about that. Anyway, I already ordered the food that you like, it’s omurice, right?”
He grinned widely, happy with my correct suggestion. The two of us then went to look at our own phones while waiting for the food to arrive. In the corner of my eyes, I could see him fidgeting, maybe feeling uncomfortable with something.
“What’s wrong, Sakurai?”
I put down my phone, attentively examining his face to see the source of his discomfort. He bit his lips, as if hesitating something. His dithering went on for some time, but I patiently waited for him to tell me what’s in his mind. I don’t want to force him to tell me about it.
“A-Anyway, don’t you think the food is late?”
He stammered, obviously trying to change the subject. I shrugged to his suspicious behavior, probably thinking that those fidgeting were one of the symptoms indicating that his heat cycle is almost near.
“True. I ordered the food at about 15 minutes ago, but I guess they’ll take a long time to prepare our food, because there’s this notice on the front door saying that they’ll do a performance this evening.”
I turned to my back to look for any available waiters or waitresses as I was sitting on the chair that was back-facing the stage. While my eyes rolled around, looking for the employees, my irises halted from it’s current task, as if they were locked onto something when I met someone’s gaze, who was also looking in my direction.
He was a male, maybe an office worker too like me based on his three piece suit. Looks like my age, and has a stunning pair of golden eyes that sent a surge of something inside of me. A thought popped up from inside my head and I turned back to look at Sakurai.
“Tatsuki-kun?”
Sakurai glanced at me, concerned and also puzzled.
I fluttered my eyes, the train of thoughts which suddenly appeared inside me kept running through my mind as I felt my chest slightly heavy. I suddenly stood up, making Sakurai flinch.
“Excuse me for a moment, Sakurai.”
I said in a serious tone before turning around towards that guy’s direction. From his actions, he also stood up and said something to his colleagues who were with him before lifting his head to meet with my eyes again. The both of us started to walk to the middle of the café, both taking out our smartphones from the pocket of our outer coats. As the crowds bustled in our background, the two of us exchanged our contact numbers.
“…Thanks.”
I smirked at him playfully and he replied it with a proud smile on his slightly pink colored lips. Immediately, the two of us parted ways.
“What’s that all about? Do you know him?”
Sakurai shot me with questions after questions the moment I laid back my butt on the chair.
“I don’t know him, but…”
My lips formed another smirk, amazed and also surprised by this unpredecented phenomenon. I guess this is what they call instinct.
“…He’s my fated pair.”
His eyes widened slightly. I noticed his eyes drifting away to the side of my ears, probably eyeing that guy I was exchanging contact information with, before soon after his face lit up.
“S-Seriously?”
“Yeah. There’s this voice telling me that he’s mine.” I tapped the side of my head
“Then…”
He fidgeted again.
“Will you go out with him?”
“What? Why?” My brows creased, disagreeing his sudden suggestion.
“Why did you say? Isn’t he your fated pair?”
I scoffed.
“He is my fated pair, but do I have to stick to the old customs that fated pair are automatically fated to be together too?”
Besides, there’s already this system that prevents unwilling Alphas and Omegas to become a fated pair.
His face twitched into a look of conflict. He pondered for a bit.
“Tatsuki-kun, actually…”
