Crossfire: The Age of Quris 

Chapter 1: Origin

20 Years ago, a man known by the public as ‘One Eye’ was executed for his crimes. He fought against the government for decades. At the end of his run, he amounted to a bounty of 6.75 Billion crowns. But his actions inspired many men and women alike to become a ‘Quris.’ Quris are rebels against law who follow no rules. And do no good. Or so was thought for most, this became a day marked by history as a curse to the land.

Out at sea, 20 years later.

“Do you think I let you work on my ship so you could slack off?!” The captain shouted at all the crew members lying down on the deck,  frantic movement quickly filled the deck– aside from one young boy resting against a barrel. “Maren! Wake your sorry self up!” His voice boomed across the ship, some crew members flinching instinctively “Cool it, old man.” Maren’s voice was groggy “Old man?!” The captain looked like he was about to pop a gasket. “Oh he’s about to get the business.” A few crew members whispered among each other.

Out of nowhere the ship started violently rocking– there was a ship off in the horizon, firing cannonballs at them. “Everyone get in position, we’re under attack!” The captain barked orders, hopping down onto the deck, grabbing a rifle from the gun rack. Maren stood up stretching– “What are you doing you idiot?!” Maren’s friend Olgra smacked him on the head, “We don’t have time for you to stretch!” “Jeez, what's your problem woman!” Maren jumped back, clutching his head. Without an answer Olgra went to help the cannoneer. “Jerk.” Maren turned away picking up his choice of weapons, twin pistols, “I can’t believe such a lovely day was ruined by some wannabe Quris.” He said mostly to himself, the enemy ship stopped right beside theirs. Hopping over onto the deck. “Surrender your ship and treasures to us! The great Yo-Yo pirates!” The man, who was probably 3 '2, spoke while he spun a yo-yo in his left hand, Maren struggled to hold his laughter, “Who’s the midget?” An unnerving silence followed, as the man threw his yo-yo at Maren, blades popping out of its sides– “Woah there, little guy,” Maren tilted his head to the side, the yo-yo flying by him. He grabbed the string and yanked the little man forward– holding one of his pistols to his temple. “I would calm down if I were you.” His voice dropped “Unhand big man Yo-Yo!” A member of the Yo-Yo pirates shouted “What kind of name is that?” Maren grimaced, “I would become a hermit if I were known as that.” He pressed the barrel harder against the man's head “I have a bounty of 8 million crowns! You don’t want to mess with me!” Big man Yo-Yo stood frozen, he was shorter than Olgra sitting down– and she’s 5 '3, the deck went silent then it bursted into laughter “Oh man! He thinks he's some big shot!” Rayan the captain's second in command's head flew back, a deep laughter filling the air.

“You think you can make a fool of me?! Men! Get them!” A vein bulged from Big Man Yo-Yo’s forehead, with a battle cry the Yo-Yo pirates charged forward. “No one disrespects our captain!” “Get them!”

Maren’s mind went silent, everything quiet— so quiet he could hear his own heartbeat, the world fading to a white around him… “Deadeye: Hellstorm.” bullets ricocheted in the pattern of a star, hitting every Yo-Yo pirate leaving Big Man Yo-Yo by himself 

“My men… What did you do to them!”

 He desperately attempted to escape scrambling to his feet, but Rayan rolled a stray canteen under his feet. CRASH Big Man Yo-Yo tripped over the canteen, and crashed to the floor. 

Captain Vonwing walked over “Listen here sonny, just because you got that bounty on your head doesn’t make you worth our time.”

 “Yeah you tell him, old timer!” Rayan cheered Vonwing on “Shut your mouth, boy!” The response was gruff but not ill-hearted, “What do you mean! 8 million crowns is a lot!” Olgra tried counting with her fingers, “Yes yes” Big man Yo-Yo cleared his throat, rubbed his chin– groan “See the woman is very intelligent…” He tried to grin while nursing a bruised leg. “Can it, block-head!” She slammed her foot onto a loose plank, and it hit him on the head. “Ah! Crazy ape woman!” “WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!” “I”LL KILL YOU!” Olgra charged forward, booting Big man Yo-Yo off the ship

“OHHHH MYYY GODDDD!” a desperate cry echoed, water splashing around “One second.” Rayan went into the cabin, and came out a few seconds later holding an anvil “NO! NO WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO!” Big man Yo-Yo shrieked but it was too late, the anvil had fallen. DINGGGG  “Heh… one sheep, two sheep, three fox…” He began to sink, and his crew were all just taking a nap. Maren used tranquilizer rounds instead of real bullets, “So uh, what do we do when they wake up genius?” Olgra crossed her arms, trying to look stern. But she was practically vibrating  “Olgra’s eye twitched, being called an ape certainly did a number on her mood.” “FARIS! STOP TALKING IN THIRD PERSON!” Olgra charged toward Faris, who was sitting on the railing. “Faris has no idea what you're talking about.” She looked away, whistling. Then turned back to see if she was still approaching Her— She was glaring at her so hard she might burn a hole through her.
