It was dark, darker than Revi had ever seen before. All that was around her was endless darkness. In a panic, she reached out for something to touch but found her hands came up empty. Frantically she kicked out her feet but could not feel the ground beneath her. There was no feeling to be found in anything around her, nothing she could touch. She was floating alone. She wrapped her arms around herself and let out a sigh of relief. She could still feel herself with her touch.
"I'm here… but how?" She shivered as anxiety washed over her.
Revi saw her body clear as day. It seems there was nothing before her but herself. She looked hard for any light source but only saw a black void all-around her, yet her body was visible.
"How is it the light is only reflecting off me"?
She searched the sea of black for anything to contrast the void, anything to orient herself.
"Where am I? It's so dark and cold" A shiver coursed down her spine.
Revi held her legs close to her chest and closed her eyes. She had become accustomed to being alone in many cases. But being adrift alone here only brought growing despair. "Guess this is what death is like..."
Just as her desperation started to overtake her, she found her glimmer of hope. A flicker of color stood out in what looked to be far below her feet.
"That's it!" Her heart skipped a beat in joy. But as she finished her little dance of joy, the flickers of light in the dark seemed to grow larger. The lights turned from speckles to an Amorphous orb of blue organic light at her feet, growing ever more prominent by the moment. It was then a thought came to mind.
"Am I falling?... Oh no, I'm falling!" She waved her arms and legs wildly as if to swim the nothingness but only found this made her lose her bearing. Looking desperately for the orbs to glow, she found it but now grew closer at her head.
More flickers emerged around the orb as it grew larger and took on a purple quality. The many spheres seemed to appear randomly as more emerged from the darkness and became more significant by the second. Flailing frantically, Revi was able to put her seeming descent back at her feet. The idea of falling headfirst into an unknown object did not appeal to Revi in any scenario. The orbs appeared to give way to some that seemed by Revi's to be.
"Gardens?"
She fell quickly passed by plot after plot of blue and purple plants rooted in invisible soil. Each island burned with colors so bright it hurt her eyes while she descended. Wincing her eyes, she directed her sight back to the first glimmer she saw. A vast field of blue and purple likened to the islands she saw around her laid below. Reaching with all the force in her body, she attempted to grab hold of whatever mass held the gardens together but found each attempt was futile. Each invisible handhold seemed to be just out of reach. The great blue-violet sheet before her was unavoidable. Fear and anticipation coursed through her body.
She closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact but found no feeling of hitting the ground. Shaking, she opened her eyes. To her surprise, she had not yet hit what was below. She stood just feet from what looked to be flowers beneath her. Slowly she floated down to where her feet could meet what felt to be solid ground. Before she was a field of purple and blue budded flowers swaying slowly with the wind, she could not feel herself. She let out a great sigh of relief. She was finally on something she could handle. Patting her legs, she felt no pain or injury.
She was safe, from what she could tell.
