Staring at the ground the girl walked through the crowded hall. She could feel those eyes that were staring at her, on each step she was making. She had to take a glance down to make sure that there was nothing wrong with her school outfit. Yes-all good, she hadn’t worn the wrong uniform, her tie was secured neatly, so were her shoelaces. It was her first day moving to Ursa magic academy. This school would be a fresh, new, normal, start. She was finally happy –she hopes to be-.
“Who is she?”
“Is that the new girl people been talking about?”
“That’s so unusual, our school never had a transfer before and in the middle of the second term too.”
She could hear whispers and murmur all around her. Inhaled deep, she fixed her posture. With a chin up she stared straight to her destination, the teacher’s office. She hastened her steps, rushed away from being the center of attention. It had brought her nothing but trouble in the past.
“Where are you going, new girl?” a voice quipped behind her, just a second before a flying volleyball hit her back. The strength of the hit pushed her to the ground but she managed to keep her balance and not fall. The girl turned herself and faced the culprit.
A boy stood cockily with a white ball hovering above his fingertip, the one that just hit her before. His hair was strands of a newborn day; the sunlight. His blue eyes were glancing at the girl from top to bottom and a cocky smile decorated his beautiful face. Behind the boy, stood a beautiful girl with eyes like the spring leaf and a boy with fiery hair.
The girl cleared her throat and gave her best smile, “I am going to the teacher’s office.”
“What for? Introducing yourself? Filing your papers?” the golden-haired boy snorted, “here, the first thing you need to do was introducing yourself to me, this academy king! “
“Urgh what bad luck, the golden king is going to get her, on her first day too.”
“Call the teacher, quick”
“No, I don’t want trouble. If the king found out I am the one who messing his fun. Brrr…”
The girl glanced her surrounded, people were talking in whispers. Some looked concerned while the others were curious about what would happen to her.
“And who you might be?” asked the girl politely at the boy. But instead of an answer, the boy sent the white ball to her right arm. It hit her pretty roughly and pushed her to the side. She clenched her hands hard and gritted her teeth.
‘Don’t be angry, calm down. You don’t want trouble. Calmed down.’ She chanted the words in her mind as she was regaining her posture. Standing elegantly, she gave out her best smile once more.
“When I said introduce yourself, it means you must say your name first little girl!” the boy barked. His blue eyes taunting her with a treat as his flying volleyball hovering, spinning above his fingertips.
The girl breathed deeply, she could feel her patience was thinning.
“Jace Ursa! What do you think you are doing!”
A very tall man around his twenties rushed toward where they were.
“Tsk, the giant came, so annoying,” Jace grumbled, “let’s go, guys!”
He glanced at the girl, “ I am not done with you newb. We shall meet again.” Then he left the premise followed by his minions.
“Are you okay?” Asked the tall man the moment he arrived next to the girl, “urgh that’s Jace Ursa. Being the only son of the Academy Director doesn’t mean he was free to cause trouble everywhere.”
The girl stared at the man. He was very tall and muscular, his chin was covered with some stubbles, his hair was red and short, his deep garnet eyes were edgy and blunt, added with his tanned skin made him looked fierce but warm at the same time.
“You are Yurika Clandestine right? The new transfer,” asked the man as he smiled –showing his perfect teeth-. It made her realize she has been staring at the man a little bit too long.
“Ah yes,” Yurika quickly divert her eyes.
“Good, I have been waiting for you,” the man patted her shoulders, “I am Zeke Valdez, your homeroom teacher.”
