I ran, ran straight through the terrain that's been soaking from all the rain, the night sky was bright with neither Moon nor stars but only flashes of light and loud thunder, "Som-someone help us" I heard a scream coming from my right, without wasting a second I altered my path by making a quick leap from a rock on the side and landed on a tree top. The rain was making it hard to see and hear but I managed to pin point the source of the sound, it was coming from below a ridge some meters ahead of me. My companion who has been running behind finally managed to catch up with me "My... lord, why are we stopping, we need to get to the Estate as soon as possible" he shouted, almost breathless. I raised my hand in an expression to stay quiet and said "I heard a scream Kyle, it was coming from near that boulder in that ridge" I paused "We need to go check it out", "But My lord we are supposed to get to Elisha's Estate by dawn, am sure they all will be worried sick by now" Kyle said in a desperate tone. 'Well I can't really blame him' I thought to myself since who knew we would get an assassination attempt while traveling this route, the forest surrounding the Elisha household's Estate is called the whimpering dusk, the forest is said to be inhabited by an ancient demon that was sealed by an envoy of god many centuries ago. We thought it would be the perfect path to take since people usually stay away from this forest unless it's absolutely necessary, "I will go on ahead and try to see what is happening, Kyle go to Elisha's and inform them of the situation", "But My Lord your safety should be the top priority right now, you should be the one t-" "Kyle Herns" I cut him off "In the name of House Barriston, I command you to head towards the Elisha's Estate, report the current situation and bring reinforcements" I said in high commanding tone exuding some bloodlust which made Kyle froze and pale for a moment but he immediately held himself together and presented a formal bow "As you wish My Lord" he said and continued on the path running and I watched him slowly disappear in the rain.

"Now then I should go see what is happening" I said to myself and jumped off the tree trunk, fortifying myself I landed on the ground and ran straight towards to where I heard the noise, I readied my sword, slowed down and hid behind a large bush to see what was happening. "St-.. Stop.... Please I beg of you, leave me alone.... Aaarghhh" I heard the scream again, I saw a woman cornered by orcs, five of them at that, she was covered in blood, near her I saw another person laying down, possibly another woman. The orcs were tall, just from appearances alone I could tell they are strong,their crimson horns stemed from the forehead, greenish blue body, atleast ten feet tall, teeths that are capable of ripping apart stones, fit muscular giant monsters is what anyone would say at first sight. I wanted to save them atleast in one piece if possible, there was not enough time to make a grand plan I just had to deal with it fast and effective. 'Lets distract them and get their attention' I thought of the perfect escape plan and decided to come out of the bush running at them holding my sword. One of the orcs noticed me and alarmed the rest, 'Good I got their attention without any work' I thought, I aimed my sword horizontally and striked the one on my front, a clean slash to the chest but it didn't do much damage "Tch... It was shallow" one of the orcs started to run at me swinging his huge club, I bended backwards to dodge the attack aimed at my chest. Another orc lined up above me with his fist ready to punch a hole, I rotated sideways just mere inches apart to dodge from it and in process I managed to injure its left eye, it roared in pain and anger. A small smile rose at my face but I wasn't sure why, is it because I managed to get their attention and did some damage or is it another reason, I will never know. "Guess I have no choice" I said and channeled my inner energy into my sword, the blade glowed in a blue halo, the Orcs started to run at me at once, I quickly unleashed the power in the blade, the energy strike stemmed forward and cut the orcs in half from the abdomen leaving behind there blood sweeping corpse and silence. I sheated my sword and ran towards the unconscious women,I checked her pulse and felt a bit of pulse just barely hanging around. 'Did I wasted too much time' I thought and proceeded to channel my inner energy into her strengthening her heartbeats and breathing.

She was getting better, "thank you sir, for saving us" the other women said, "I don't need your sentiments, I just happened to travel this path today call it a coincidence" I shrugged, I didn't wanted them to feel like they owe me something "Cough*... Cough*... Where are we", the unconscious woman woke up, now that I take a closer look she was wearing a ragged cloth, possibly commoner. "Layla, thank god you are awake, this traveler here saved us from the orcs, also sorry for my tardiness my name is Venaî, we are from a nearby village" she said it in one stretch, I acted out as I wasn't interested in them, "Hey, Mister, Can I atleast get your name" the woman called Layla asked me, I contemplated whether I should just give them a fake alias or something but after not much thought I said "The name is Meryl, Meryl Barriston". "Meryl?... You mean that Noble who was selected as the Hero" Venaî asked almost in disbelief. Thats right I am the Hero who is supposed to save this world, Selected by the Godess trail, I am the strongest in this world and the protagonist destined to save this story, "Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep" I heard loud irritating sound and armed myself again, 'what is it? , whats happening?' I panicked and suddenly the world was turned bright white and I saw a path in that light.I ran towards that path and everything around me changed I knew what it meant or rather what was happening,the world was ending and thats when I decided to let go... Let go of this dream, I was sleeping this whole time, I finally woke up from my dream. I rubbed my eyes with my hand, I saw the same old boring ceiling of my apartment and the same old stuff that I was already familiar with,"Arggg... comeon! WHY THE FUCK DID I HAD TO WAKE UP NOW, I was getting to the good part of it as well" I blamed my head for waking up early and finally let everything sink in. I sighed from realising that there isn't much to do, I opened my window and hot air came rushing in, "Yeaa this is the same old boring world", I watched the skyscrapers towering the skys, the busy aero shuttles and rushing adults of the working society, the polis patrolling the sky in their own private NERICS, the boring world and most bored boy among them. Lets start again, My name is Meryl, Meryl Reymond, am your average teenage boy with that chunibuyo delusions for saving the world and fighting monsters and what not, but most importantly I am not the protagonist of this story, am just a nobody.
