Dreams. Deeper Than You Think?
Dreams and their meanings have been long debated over thousands of years. To this day we still do not truly know the full truth behind dreams. Many still believe they hold no value or connection to the waking world. However, the meaning and connections of the following set of dreams are undeniable. Death by suicide, family leaving, and coming back to life are the main elements of an alluring dream interpretation.
The initial concern is the content of the dreams. The first dream consists of person A letting their sibling and best friend know that they had decided to commit suicide. That, “They didn’t want to be on this planet anymore, and they just wanted it to end.” This didn’t cause any turbulence between the three of them. Person A proceeded to say goodbye to the remaining family and friends. They were then in person A’s grandparent’s house. The sibling and the best friend were with person A at the time, but before the suicide took place the sibling left the room. Directly after the sibling left person A killed themself via gunshot to the mouth. A few relative hours later (in the dream) person A wakes up still on the floor of their grandparent’s house. The best friend was shocked to see person A wake-up. Person A then proceeded to reunite with the people who thought they were dead, and throughout the whole second half of the dream there was a burning sensation on the back of person A’s head. The second dream’s content was not relevant, however, the burning sensation of the last dream transferred over and was present in the second dream. The basic interpretation of suicide in dreams shows a distinct desire to escape from your waking life, or that a person is harbouring guilt that they are taking out on themselves. The basic interpretation of death shows a symbolic ending of something, whether it is a job, relationship, or general phase of life. The basic interpretation of a death by gunshot is that a person is experiencing confrontation in their waking life, and a gunshot to the mouth shows a fear of speaking out on one’s opinions.
Having a family member leave in a dream could mean many things. In person A’s case, their relationship with their sibling is not entirely positive and causes frustration. So, the sibling leaving would show that person A would not want them involved with a personal situation. The basic meaning of having the grandparent’s house as a location shows a regression to a time and place where you felt safe and cared for. It shows the seeking of security or safety of childhood where there were little stress and responsibility.
The basic meaning of coming back to life in a dream shows that there has, or that there is the potential for unexpected news or changes in waking life. The basic meaning of reuniting with family could represent an actual reunion in life or a desire to reunite with someone. It could also represent reuniting with an aspect of yourself, and sharing that with others.
Keeping all of these interpretations in mind and putting all of them together, the following is the full interpretation of this set of dreams.
Person A needs to break away from the people in their life, primarily the familial figures. They feel boxed in and unable to properly share their opinions with them and they hold themselves partially accountable for that. The familial figures most likely have a separate way of thinking or separate opinions on topics that person A holds close to heart. They probably feel the need to be in the state of a responsibility free child or feel like they are being forced into a childlike frame of mind. This could have caused a type of confrontation in waking life, either with themselves or with the familial figures. The best friend being present shows that they are needed or shows that they are in the same situation or frame of mind as person A. Person A’s coming back to life shows that they either wish to change the state that they are in, or it shows a change in thought about the state they are in. Reuniting and confronting the family after being revived shows that they want to tell the family about the change or that they want the family to accept them as they are. The burning in the back of the head after the revival shows that the initial reason for the metaphorical death is still a persistent irritant or persistent thought in the back of their mind. The fact that the pain stayed throughout the duration of two dreams further solidifies the fact that it is still a problem in person A’s waking life.
Dreams can hold meanings that are deep and personal to a person. You should, however, always take dreams and dream interpretation with a grain of salt as not all dreams hold a deeper meaning, and not all interpretations are correct. Most of it is guesswork, but all of it is interesting nonetheless. Death by suicide, family members leaving and coming back to life most definitely make for an interesting interpretation. But maybe, just maybe, it means nothing at all.
