My entire existence came into being with a single thought, my body represented by a tiny ball of light, my true form yet to be decided. I ask myself the question “What am I?” before I gaze around the seemingly endless and completely empty expanse of white. An enormous sheet of paper rapidly descends from the sky; it comes to a sudden stop just before hitting the ground, floating as if it were being held up by some unknown force. I take a moment to observe its surface; it would seem to be completely devoid of markings.
Just as I’m about to lose interest in this wall of paper, a peculiar line appears on its surface; it grows in length and starts to take a strangely similar form. When that line ends, another begins, and the two soon join together. I find myself mesmerized by the dancing and intertwining of these rapturous lines. As more lines appear and unite together upon its surface, I begin to recognize the shape; the lines appear to have taken the form of a young human female standing in a front-facing pose. Her face has yet to be designed. Immediately after the outline of this girl has finished taking shape, the lines jump from the page and fly at me; becoming a part of me upon contact, connecting me to the paper. My entire form of being rapidly begins to change.
As I am absorbed by the lines, a thin sheet of reflective glass appears before me. The lines around me suddenly cease their dance and adhere to my body with a hasty conviction. Feeling as if the worst has passed, I use the sheet of glass to look upon my new form. To my surprise, I discover I am the girl being drawn; my body formed of little more than an outline of what could be, but unmistakably human. I think “I’m… a human? What’s happening to me?” as I frantically feel my new body for the first time with my hands. I turn my gaze back to the paper as the lines connecting me to the paper detach from my body and return to their original positions on the parchment. New lines are fashioned and old ones fade sporadically on the paper’s surface; the lines that make up my appearance begin to transform to match the ones on this giant page.
In what appears to be the blink of an eye, I am granted long flowing hair, some clothes to wear, and a face that I adore. As the lines stop forming on the page, my body solidifies into this white fabric of reality; it would seem my new form is complete. I get closer to the sheet of glass and take in every detail of my new form; I begin to wonder “This body is cute, but what’s my purpose? Who am I?” …to which, no answers came.
