I woke up.
My eyes flickered.
I was in a pink room, it looked like it belonged to a young girl. It was a little disorganized, toys were thrown about, tea cups laying on the floor, and a few massive plushies laying in front of me.
I started surveying around the room. When I tried to look at the mirror, there was no reflection. When I stared at the paintings around the room, there was nothing but a frame. When I tried to hold my own hand, it just phased through the other.
I didn't know who I was or what I was doing in that room. I looked through the window and there was nothing outside. Was I lost? I questioned that possibility while I looked at the door in front of me, almost inviting me to leave.
I immediately walked to the door and tried to open it; however, it was locked. I started thinking that I must've been trapped in that room, in the middle of the void. In the middle of nothingness. But why? I questioned the room even further but then I noticed another thing.
An arrow pointed toward a crate and there were symbols next to the arrow. The symbols represented a Heart, Cube, and Arrow. Was this a puzzle? That's what fate led me to believe. The massive plushies laying around me were the key to opening the door.
I grabbed the heart and placed it in the crate, I picked the cube and placed it in the crate, and finally I moved the arrow inside the crate. After placing the plushies inside the crate, I tried opening the door again, but nothing changed - the door was still locked.
I sighed. I figured that wouldn't be the way to opening a door, maybe there was a key laying somewhere here. Why would plushies inside a crate open a door anyway. Was I mad? Probably. All I had done was clean up a little for whatever young girl lived here. At least, that's what I thought.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of rain outside, but when I looked through the window - it was still nothing. As I glared into the nothingness, I heard the door open right behind me. A young girl with purple hair, purple accessories, and a beautiful purple dress had walked inside the room I was in. She led me to the outside and that's when...
"I woke up."
"My eyes flickered."
In the midst of a gray garden with dying flowers, there lay the body of a young maiden.
"Wake up. There's no time for introductions, we must leave this place immediately," a woman yelled as she stood in front of you. You slowly got up and noticed your surroundings, "Why am I here? Where's the pink room?"
The woman staring at you looked confused, "Camilla. We're at the edge of Campanella," she responded while pointing at a gate close to you. "With this gate, we'll enter White Campanella and act as if we've never been here."
Perhaps you've woken up from a dream. Unsure of that, you grab your hand, but this time it doesn't phase through. You grab a shard of glass and notice your reflection, you have beautiful light blue hair that touches your waist, and a very formal black suit.
"Wait. Camilla!? Is that my name?" you question the woman in front of you despite the familiar name given to you. "Yes. My name is Liora, we were in the same school when we were younger. The suit you're wearing belongs to the academy; however, you've been missing for ten years."
Liora started walking away without making much noise. You follow her step and remain by her side, unless told otherwise. "Ten years? Missing? I don't... remember."
You try to remember anything. Anything at all. But it's futile. Where could you have been the past ten years? Who were you even? That's when you decided to question Liora, "If I really have been gone for ten years... then how did you find me?"
"This place. The edge of Campanella is a heavily guarded ghost town where people used to live in centuries ago. Let's just say, I had a feeling of where you were," she continued walking toward a spot on the side of the gate. It seemed like a secret exit to avoid being seen by guards.
As you both walked through, you noticed how barren everything was around the ghost town. Houses were torn apart leaving only wood remains, all sorts of nature grayed out - just like the sky. "What happened here? Everything is... gray."
Liora suddenly stops by a wall, then makes a hand motion signaling for you to get to where she is. As soon as you approach her, both of you are pulled into a water fountain. "And that's the secret exit. Welcome back to White Campanella."
You immediately jump out of the water, you notice your clothing remained dry. It was unusual, despite being welcomed back. You don't recognize the view ahead. Unlike the ghost town before, the view ahead was bright. A massive maze of houses close together was ahead of you, the surroundings were made up of lots of houses, small mountains, and paths leading to more houses. Not only was the sky a bright blue instead of gray, but there was life.
"Your name is Camilla. You were born and raised in White Campanella which is located in the region of Altharim, you were an only child. Ten years ago, you and your parents suddenly disappeared. You are the lucky one, your parents are still long gone, presumably dead."
While she talked, you couldn't divert your attention from the cupcake she held in her pocket. What a weird spot to keep a cupcake in. "Are you even listening? Oh. You must be hungry from your ten year venture."
She grabbed the cupcake and handed it to you. Instead of grabbing it, you ate it from her hand. "Camilla!? Did you also forget your etiquette? There- there's a lot we have to get through it seems," Liora blushed as you finished your cupcake.
In the country of Campanella, citizens must follow a ruleset of etiquette and morals. Social, dining, business, bathroom... let's just say all sorts of etiquette.
"Follow this way."
While you followed Liora you could see how lively it was around in White Campanella. People would sell stuff right outside their homes, from fruits and vegetables to unusual fashion stuff. "Young ladies, I can re-a-a-a-d your futur-e-e-e-essss!"
Despite your interest, Liora kept pulling you away - neither of you had any money to buy anything. "In the morning at White Campanella, one member in each family will stay around to sell produce of any kind. On the other hand, the other will either choose to live off of the sales or going to work."
"Do we have to work? What if I'm a student or something of that sort," you ask after noticing people in formal suits similar to yours walking toward a massive path. "Of course not. If you're a child, you have to go to school. Those people walking in that path, they are academy students. Which doesn't make sense, you went missing before you could even enter the academy."
After having walked for a few minutes, Liora walked toward a door and opened it. You followed right behind, the door led inside a house. Just like the others around, it was built with subtle oak wood planks, the inside felt similar to that of a cabin in the middle of a massive forest. A small fireplace built inside, furniture masterfully put together, and a single lamp giving life to the whole place.
Liora grabbed a cup of coffee and sat on a chair. "This is my house. Feel free to sit around. We can rest here while I tell you what's next."
"Huh? Inviting me over already? This is... my first time."
Liora spat out her coffee, "You don't have anywhere else to stay! That's all there is to it. Anyway, I assume you want to find your parents. I have an idea of where they are, but it's not a simple task."
You suddenly remember being told just an hour ago that your parents were lost. Are you truly that heartless? "I... don't even remember them. But I do want to learn more about myself. For some reason, I can't remember anything or anyone. Not even you Liora... and I don't know why. If I've truly been gone for ten years, then something must've happened to me."
You noticed that you felt mostly emotionless to everything around you, maybe the lack of memory was enough to erase the moments that would've made you feel something. "I figured that if we ask the Sovrana, that perhaps she has a way of recovering your memories. But that wouldn't be an easy thing to accomplish. Second best option is to plead for help from Green Campanella, like that's ever happening. So the only realistic option we have is talking to the Archiver in Blue Campanella."
A lot of words and things you don't understand, you simply nod your head as a form of approval. "You'll find out what all that means later. But the reason I picked the Archiver as our only option, is that he is known for keeping a close record of history at Campanella."
"That is also not an easy task though. The Archiver keeps a lot of things private from the public eye as a request from Green Campanella, but that's fine. I have a few ideas we can use that I'm only able to use now that you're here."
Well! It looks like your fate has been decided. You're going to go with Liora to the Archiver over at Blue Campanella in order to find more about yourself and possibly your parents. Aren't you excited? No? That's not what you're supposed to say. How else are you going to find out who you were? Look I don't make the rules, just follow on with the script.
