The familiar scent of the city surrounded him, tunneling the awareness until it burst into the light
He's awake staring at the concrete floor of an abandoned den.
The dusty smell made him sneeze,
I should leave
He emerged, the sun was hidden by a thick cover of clouds, it was bleak and gray with a tint of the blue outside.
Like every day.
The brick sidewalk was cold beneath his green-stained fur, around him were small trees placed on the side of the road where cars sped by making him crinkle his nose, humans are disgusting. Buildings made of brick surrounded him, he hopped on the brick paths going upwards towards the center of the city, shops selling clothes for humans that they mewled like kittens over milk for. Irritated by their voices He flicked his black-tipped tail, and swerved around the legs of the walking humans that meowed and squealed around him loudly.
The clouds had moved from the sun later that day, shining on his stained fur of browns and moss and olive greens, with his black snout ears and tail, he stood top of a rock in the near woods by the city, the sound of the woods had drowned out the sounds of the loud city. Forest didn't go into it often it made him feel sick with all the new scents cluttering around him it was suffocating. But he needed to eat.
He backed his hindquarters in the air and let his tail down, he saw a mouse tail a few lengths in front of him he wiggled his back and pounced but landed on his face and scared the mouse away.
“RATS!” he yowled in anger
His nose burned with pain
He hit and clawed his paws at the dirt in anger
He had lost his only meal and now he would have to probably have to wait hours for the next one.
Prey never really comes to the woods near the city anymore,
The reason for this is because it's growing bigger and the noise is scaring everything away
Leaving Forest hungry.
He growled and picked himself up, if anyone was gonna ruin his day it was gonna be HIM.
The grass spiked his paw pads and bugs crawled around the rocks and trees that grew long and scrawny with black bark and smooth savannah redwood underneath,
Bushes in crowds with fuzzy leaves and bug nests that smell of dirt and mold.
The dirt path in front leads into an opening of long dry grass hills with sagebrush and dry bush.
On his left was a dried-up water hole surrounded by a fence, and on his right was a path that had different things but did lead back to the city.
He took the path on his right leading into thicker trees.
Around him were flowers and human benches, dead tree logs and sticks everywhere
Around the corner was a giant hole protected by a metal fence material, the hole was deep but at the bottom, you could see a yellow shine and glass.
He hopped down and clawed at the dirt below him disappointed at not finding any food that morning
“Maybe I'll just eat human leftovers again,” he asked himself
He shook his pelt
“No, I'm not weak, I don't need someone else to feed me!”
He put his nose to the forest floor and the scents cluttered his brain fogging it from concentration.
He smelt something!
His ears perked and eyes shot open
He stepped forward, he could smell the mouse but he couldn't see it?
Then he saw it
It was under a bramble bush!
If I go in there I'll get hurt…
His stomach rumbled
Oh, how hungry he was!
He licked his lips and backed up getting ready to pounce clawing at the grass below him
He leaped into the bush caging the mouse beneath his claws
The thorns were digging into his fur but he had the mouse in his grip and he bit down on its neck!
There was a crunch and the mouse went limp.
Then Forest realized that he was stuck in a thorn bush and in immense pain.
