" Settling down, class! Settle down!" Madam LeAyna said, in a loud enough voice for most of the voices to stop giggling about the previous conversation. " I have an announcement!". " Is it that the boys are gonna join our class for the rest of the month!?" Leia Macky asked, all of the girls around her, except Lyn, giggling. Lyn did not care one bit for boys. Even though all her siblings started dating at age fifteen. But not Lyn. " No...". Madam LeAnya has a disgusted look on her face. " Yuck," Lyn whispered to herself. " Anyway, my announcement," Madam LeAnya said, " is that this level was picked to have an opportunity to audition for The Sugarplum Fairy, in this year's Nutcracker".
Everyone gasped. This time, even Lyn. Every year, one level of ballet in the Aurthur James Ballet School is chosen to be able to audition for a role in The Nutcracker. And Lyn's level got The Sugarplum Fairy opportunity. " Does this mean we get to dance with a boy!?" Leia asked. " Yes..." Madam LeAnya said. Lyn was thinking more about this role. " Dancing with boys?" she said aloud. " Yeah! Fun, isn't it?" her friend, Luna Luffinburger said. " Er... I mean, yes!" Lyn lied. " Auditions will be held on Wednesday," Madam LeAnya told them. " I'll be there to watch. I expect perfect posture, growing taller as you stand, and pointed feet. If you are interested in auditioning, you may stay after class to learn your audition dance". " Boo!" the class shouted. " It's only for thirty minutes, my lovely's. And It's a short dance. If you complaining now, I can see you don't want this role, considering It'll take many minutes to perform". " Yay!" the class changed their minds.
" We have two more minutes of class. If you don't wanna audition, you may leave". No one moved a muscle. " Wow, okay". Madam LeAnya looked impressed.
A middle-aged man came into the classroom. Leia looked as if she was gonna vomit. " What's the prob, Lei? Don't you LOVE dancing with boys?" Lyn jocked. Everyone laughed. " Ugh". Leia turned her back to the class.
" Hello, class," the man said. " I'm Mr. Markci. " Today you'll learn a simple dance, that you'll audition for The Sugarplum Fairy with".
The class nodded.
He taught the class the whole dance and even went over it multiple times. And no one realized they went an hour past their time. Everyone was having too much fun! " Wow!" Mr. Markci said. " You guys are the most talented dancers I've ever worked with!". " But we are way past time. Good luck, tomorrow!".
The class retrieved their bags and walked out. Lucky for the girls( except Lyn), the boys had finished at the exact same time. " Hello, Luke," Leia said, everyone, imagining her with heart eyes. " Oh, hey Lei" Luke replied, smliling. " Sigh" Leia said. She was in total dreamland. " I see y'all are auditioning for the fairy" Luke's friend Doug said. " Yep," Leia replied, her eyes all dreamy. " Well, good luck to y'all," Luke said. " I'll win the part for you, Lukey!" Leia said, putting her arms around Luke. " Uh... er, yeah, yeah, win that part for me," he said. As the boys left, Luke winked at Lyn. But Lyn wasn't interested in boys, so she just stood there. " You guys heard him. I'm winning that part!" Leia said, walking out of the ballet school. " Good luck, Lyn," Luna said. " Same to you" Lyn replied.
Hope everyone enjoys this! I'm working on Chapter two right now! I am taking requests on what book genre to write next! I may or may not take your request.
Lyn Katherine wants to audition for The Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker. She knows, by playing this role, she must master ten pirouettes in a row! She knows that's the hardest part. But when she gets her great-great grandmother's old ballet shoes, she does much more than ten.
