Prologue

Zephyr Maximilian Sovereign, "Maxx"

As I sat in my small, cluttered apartment, my eyes drifted to the faded photograph on my desk. It showed a man with an intense, almost manic expression, holding a baby with vibrant green skin, tiny wings, and a small horn jutting from their forehead. My father, Langley Sovereign, looked like a man possessed, consumed by a single, all-encompassing idea.

For years, my father had been obsessed with the idea of creating the perfect human being - a superhuman who could change the course of history and bring about a new world order. He believed that through the power of genetic engineering, he could create a being of unparalleled strength, intelligence, and ability - a savior who could lead humanity into a glorious future.

When he learned about the groundbreaking work of Dr. Elias Vought in the field of genetic engineering, my father knew he had found the key to realizing his vision. He poured all of his considerable resources into funding Dr. Vought's research, convincing the scientist to take on the challenge of creating the world's first true superhuman.

My mother, Cressida, had her doubts about the project, but my father was relentless in his pursuit. He saw me as the culmination of all his dreams and aspirations - the one being who could make all his sacrifices worthwhile. And so, against her better judgment, my mother agreed to undergo the experimental procedure that would combine their genetic material with Dr. Vought's cutting-edge biotechnology.

The result was me - Zephyr Maximilian Sovereign, the world's first and only genetically engineered superhuman. From the moment I was born, my father's obsession only grew deeper. He saw in me the potential to shape the future of the entire human race, to usher in a new era of progress and enlightenment.

But as I grew older, I began to understand the true cost of my father's ambition. The world was not ready for a being like me - a creature that defied the laws of nature and challenged the very foundations of human society. My mere existence sparked fear, hatred, and conflict on a global scale, as different factions sought to either control or destroy me.

Now, as I sit amidst the wreckage of a world torn apart by my father's hubris, I can't help but wonder if he ever truly understood the magnitude of what he had done. In his quest to create a savior, he had unleashed a force that threatened to destroy everything he held dear.

But I refuse to let my father's mistakes define me. I know that I have the power to shape my own destiny, to use my abilities for the greater good of all humanity. And so, I will fight against the chaos and destruction that my existence has wrought, and work to build a future where all individuals, regardless of their origins, can live in peace and harmony.

It won't be easy, but I am ready for the challenge. I am Zephyr Maximilian Sovereign, the child of my father's dreams and the hope of a better tomorrow. And I will not rest until I have fulfilled my purpose and brought about the world that my father always imagined, even if he himself could never truly understand it.
