The sun rise over the Hahllowein Forest on a cold autumn day. Water, from last nights rain, drips from the leaves of the tall pine trees. The birds sing a song of joy, celebrating the rise of the sun. The fallen leaves crinkle with each step of a young family on a morning walk. The mother happily holding her husband's hand while keeping a watchful eye on their 5 year old son, running gleefully chasing a butterfly. Sun rays break through the trees lighting the way to a nearby river. The river burbles almost overflowing. The water is dark. Almost too dark to see through. Only faint silhouettes of large eel like fish can be seen with the occasional bubbles.
The boy trips over a tree root hidden by withering leaves. He stumbles forward, fighting to stay on his feet. He falls to the ground landing on his side. The boy cries in agony before rolling into the dark river. He struggles against the strong current before being pulled to the depths.
The father sprints to the river and dives in head first. Only thinking 'I must save my son'. The father dissappears in the darkness of the river.
The mother shakes uncontrollably, tears running down her face, staring at the river waiting for any sign of life. She's screams for help at the top of her lungs while frantically running along the edge of the river, but there are no signs of life other than herself. The once signing birds have gone silent. All that can be heard is the gurgling of the river, and the desperate crys of a woman.
Suddenly something splashes out of the river. The boy gasps for air clinging to the ground. The mother runs to him. She is relieved to see her boy alive despite being under the water for over 10 minutes. She grabs her son, pulling him far away from the river. She holds the trembling boy in her arms and thanks God for protecting her son.
The boy screams as if he were on fire. Grasping his head he looks up at his mother, with tears in his eyes and blood on his hands, and simply asks to go home.
The mother looks to the river once more in the hopes her husband has also managed to climb ashore. The river continues to flow as if nothing has happened. The mother picks up her son and leaves to find help.
As She walks away the boy looks back at the river behind them and smiles. He waves to the body of the father and the son which have been dragged ashore by the eel like humanoid creatures that live below the darkness. One of the creatures looks to the boy and mouths 'have fun my child'.
