Before the Grace Period, theSoul World flourished with advanced technology, prosperity, and harmony, what many called true world peace. Cities thrived, nature was nurtured, and humanity stood at the peak of progress.
But then, everything changed.
A globally renowned biotechnologist, Professor Ethan, made history when he successfully engineered the first genetically modified tree, which he named "The Essence." His vision was ambitious: a tree capable of absorbing natural elements and converting them into renewable soul energy, a limitless power source for the entire world.
At first, the project was a success. But as time passed, The Essence began to grow, far beyond expectations. It became a towering giant, its expansion uncontrolled. Then, the catastrophe began.
A strange black energy formed around the tree. Plants near it withered and turned to stone, while others simply perished. Soon, entities born from soul energy emerged, shapeless at first, but rapidly evolving into creatures with distinct forms. These beings, later called the Soulth, spread like wildfire.
The Soulth fed on human energy, and within days, 40% of the world's population was wiped out. The world teetered on the brink of extinction. Then, at the height of the crisis, The Essence mysteriously exploded.
The aftermath was cataclysmic. The very structure of the world changed, lands split apart, environments twisted into unfamiliar landscapes. Some regions becamehabitats for the Soulth, while others remained as the last safe havens for humanity. Unnatural phenomena emerged, reshaping the world as it once was.
And so began the era known as theGreat Grace Period, the moment when humanity was forced to adapt, fight, and survive in a world forever changed.
In the Soul World, humanity clings to survival within the borders of their safe havens, keeping their distance from the terrifying creatures known as Soulth. To fight back, academies were established, training the next generation to grow stronger and stand against the threat.
Among them is Ero Aurelian, a prodigy with no grand ambitions of heroism. He doesn’t fight for justice or to save the world, he does it for money.
But when fate throws him into the depths of a reality far more complex than he imagined, his beliefs begin to waver. The battles ahead will not only challenge his strength but also force him to question everything he thought he stood for.
