Cloud… pops out of nowhere then would gradually fade-- like every existing being.
“ As your professor, I’ve always respected you Mr. Gal. I always knew that my subject is your field of expertise. But what's happening to you lately? Huh? ”
Professor Shin sputters some words of wisdom... I bet he’s wondering why I didn’t pass the task.
It’s not that I didn’t do it. I just wanted to see his reaction to it. Will he fail me in his subject? Me? The so-called Professor Shin's favorite student?
“ I’m sorry sir. I forgot about it,” I claimed with civility that I didn't really feel.
There’s something wrong about me. I knew about it ever since I was young… I am obsessed with people’s emotions yet I lack all of those expressive traits.
Their facial expressions, their pain.. Anything concerned about their sentimental responses on a certain matter-- I was always curious about it. No. Let's just say, I'm obsessed with it.
“ Mr. Gal, If you’re sincere about your apology, please submit the task tomorrow. Pass a hard copy and please be reminded of the format,”
Death. What happens after death? Is it true that after dying, a human's sense of hearing would still be functioning for a few minutes?
Dying out of curiosity, everything about this world is just too plain and boring- well any topic related to death is an exception.
“ Yes Professor Shin,”
Staring at him, I could see Professor Shin’s hard angled eyebrows suddenly changed pace. The arch of his dark brown colored eyebrows slowly went back to normal. The lower eyelid of his protruding eyes went at ease little by little until his whole facial expression went relaxed as if all of his anxiety got swiped away.
Now, the mood’s tension reached its absolute tranquility.
“ If that’s the case, then you can leave now,” he commanded while wearing an uncertain tone. He’s probably wondering why I kept staring at his face.
Tremendous moment… I went inside his head, read his thoughts,
I know him more than he knows himself.
Yes. I am delighted. At least I can feel a slight happiness?
Despite that, I would also like to feel disappointment. Unluckily, everytime I try to fail myself, I feel nothing…
I wanted to "regret" but I can't really feel that.
“ Thank you professor, have a nice afternoon,” I replied while wearing my earnest tone. The tone must be sincere right? Because if not, he might just think that I was playing with his thoughts.
Yes, that’s just right- pretend and fabricate.
As I decided to leave, the door in the office opened and a familiar figure appeared in front of my vision.
He’s not a classmate of mine yet he looks like someone who’s about my age… wearing the university’s uniform- it perfectly suited his well-defined body.
Everything about his outside characteristics screams perfection- he was like a cloud that I would never like to let go.
He wears light brown upturned eyes, aquiline nose, perfectly proportioned yet downturned lips and tanned skin. At that moment of time, I knew that he was something special for the reason that he caught my attention.
He stared at Professor Shin.
Professor Shin also looked at him like he was seeing a lightning in front of his perception.
My true field of expertise is observing human beings' emotions and feelings. I realized that how they look at each other isn’t normal.
Those were remarkable gazes that a professor and a student wouldn’t do… unless they are intimate.
“ O-oh, Mr. Riko Wang.. You’ve finally visited my office after not attending classes for 1 month,” Professor Shin was stuttering with his own words.
On his statement, I realized that Riko, the student who just went into the office, is actually a batchmate of mine who didn’t attend school for 1 month. His appearance howls with familiarity but I think it’s my first time to hear his name.
I continued making an exit to avoid any suspicious actions. I knew that Riko was a familiar person but not because he’s a schoolmate of mine. I definitely saw him somewhere else.
I wonder where?
As I walked through the silent corridors, I could see the sunlight passing through the grills. The fragments of dust kept floating in the atmosphere as if they were not fighting against the 9.8 m/s² gravity of the Earth. I looked up to the sky and then I suddenly remembered that one moment-
That time when I went to the beach...
As the wind greeted my cheeks, I saw a figure trying to drown himself.
“ Oh,” I blurted out of nowhere while unconsciously wearing a smirk.
Satisfaction, indeed. It was like completing a hard puzzle.
Riko Wang... How could I forget the man who tried to drown himself in the beach on that one stormy day?
