When fear takes over, everyone is a monster. Especially when it involves life and death. I should have said sorry when I had the chance. I should have told my parents the reason why I went to war. I was angry at my father. I wanted to prove to him and my family that I was brave. I shouldn’t have gone off on my own. I shouldn’t have taken hold of my father’s prized gun and signed up for the military. I didn’t know what I was thinking. But I knew that fear had overwhelmed me, and anger took the best of me.
Hey everyone! This is a story I wrote years ago and I want to share it. I'm going to try to change some things along the way to improve this writing. Just so you know, even though it's about war, it's not an accurate depiction (please don't come after me...). Feel free to (kindly) correct me if something feels off.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy this story!!
22-year-old Joey Byariars finds himself in the middle of a war with zero knowledge on war, and the only possession he has is his father's rifle. Wanting to escape his abusive father, Joey takes the opportunity to throw himself into war, just to feel something. As the war prolongs, he is caught between difficult emotions.
Things take a turn when a mysterious man appears into Joey's life, bringing a sense of solace amidst the terrible war. Yet as things slowly reveal themselves to Joey, he begins to realize that what he thought he knew to be true perhaps wasn't the truth.

Not an accurate depiction of war (please forgive me). Suitable for 15-16+ as there are sexual content, violence, and strong language.
I am not glorifying war nor any abuse - this is a fictional story.
