Finley set up the games console to display on the projector screen, ignoring the group shoving each other around behind her. By now, after a year and a half of spending every Wednesday with the group, and half a year with their one freshman, she was used to them, and they had gotten over the shock of her being the club founder a few months into their freshman year. They were all close friends now, with only Luke ever trying to hit on her, so she let them goof off. Their club was pretty casual, so it didn’t matter much. They were just here to play video games.
She stretched as she stood up, letting them pile in and bicker over who got to play first. She walked to the desks and sat at a desk, sliding down to prop her feet up on top of it and taking out her handheld. As she started playing her own game, she noticed the others falling silent as something caught their attention, and the door creaked audibly in the silence.
“Uh, this is the gaming club,” Luke said, sounding more confused than territorial despite his word choice, and Finley looked up, raising an eyebrow.
In the doorway stood a girl who could only be described as delicate. She had soft looking blond hair, pulled back behind her ears and with a bright pink strawberry barrette clipping her bangs to the side, aided by smaller plain ones in some places. Her face was round, just like the rest of her, and Finley mentally compared her to a pillow- squishy and chubby. Her skin was a pale white, untanned besides a patch of sunburn red and freckles across her nose and on the shoulder her low hanging sweater revealed. Her light brown eyes were hidden by wire frame glasses, and her clothes were a fashionable level of loose and varying shades of pink. Her shoes rounded the outfit off, matching the bright pink of the strawberry in her hair and her skirt.
Finley realized she had stopped breathing and exhaled a soft laugh.
“I’d hope so,” the girl in the doorway responded, voice surprisingly sharp and authoritative compared to her appearance. “I’m Cheryl.”
“Finley,” she said, cutting off any of the boys’ responses and sliding out of the desk to stand up. “Gaming club president. Wanna bang?”
