Amelia Goldenheart had been trained and educated on everything. She was raised like the heir of the throne that she was, with lessons in sword fighting, sewing, and of course politics. There was nothing that she was not taught, except for the most crucial thing she should’ve learned about first and foremost.
The lesson on loss.
For her, nothing was of use as soon as she had to ascend to a throne once occupied by her loving father. She found nothing of importance in her lessons when she was met with grief.
But whilst she was trying to familiarize herself with the pain of losing her parents, she also had to take up responsibilities of the kingdom. She was now the Queen of Geraldia, and not just a carefree princess who could get away with skipping her lessons.
For the first time in her life, she was the one everyone would answer to and never question, aside from the multiple advisors that her father used to have. These advisors did nothing to soothe her of her unfamiliar pain, as they pushed her to find herself a King.
But out of them all, only one spoke differently.
Amelia Goldenheart was a Queen now, and there was only one old advisor who told her to rule the Kingdom instead of finding herself a substitute in the form of a spouse.
“You are the Queen now. You can find yourself a King later.”
He was right, and he was the only one on her side.
Her pain had to be pushed to the back of her mind as she let go of all the advisors except for Elric. The only one who saw her and not an unclaimed property there for anyone’s taking.
But while Elric advised her appropriately on everything, he never advised her on the one thing that would become Amelia’s undoing. The one thing which had a knack of sneaking up on even the most powerful and vigilant of people.
The one thing that took the form of a long-haired gladiator with a name synonymous to bread – love.
