Bri stared into the mirror. She stared at her long, dark brown, hair. Which was in her opinion was 'not suited for her'. She looked around for scissors, knowing what she has to do now. After finding the scissors, she went back to the mirror. Which she proceeded to cut her hair.
When she was finished, she went to show her mom. "Mom?" She asked "yes?" She said in her usual Australian accent. "Can I show you something?" She asked "yeah, you can." She replied. Bri took a deep breath and walked towards her mother. "Do you like it?" She asked as her mother put down her book. "Brianna Lee Hayes! What did you do to your hair!?" She demanded to know. Bri took a deep breath "I cut it. What's so wrong about that?" She asked "you look like a boy!" She yelled at her "I didn't raise a son! I raised a daughter! A daughter who is girly! Not acting like a boy or dressing like a boy!" Bri stood her ground "mom, this is who I am! I'm not one of those girls who go shopping 24/7! I don't wear makeup that makes me look like a clown!" Bri's mother went upstairs, towards Bri's room. "Mom, what are you doing!?" She asked while following her mother. She grabbed a suitcase and flung it at Bri, knocking her over. "Pack your things. If you're going to look and act like a boy, you aren't welcome here." She said as she left her room. "Mom, where am I going to go?" She asked "go live with a friend. Go get a job and earn enough money to buy an apartment or house. Go anywhere else but here!" She yelled "you have 30 minutes to pack." She said as she went back downstairs. Bri sat there, tears filling her eyes.
Bri packed her final thing, her computer. "Are you done now, Brianna?" Her mother asked "yeah, I am." She said "get out of this house then." Her mother yelled, softly. Bri sighed and made her way to the front door "and never return." She said before she slammed the door when Bri was outside. There Bri was, all alone in the darkness of Colorado. She pulled out her phone and texted her friend, Allison;
Bri: hey, Ally. Can I go live with you and Paige?
Allison: why?
Bri: I cut my hair and now my mom threw me out the house.
Allison: aw, poor Bri. Of course you can! I think we have a spare room for you. It might be a little cramped. Is that okay?
Bri: yeah, that's fine. Thanks Ally.
Allison: you're welcome, Bri. Do you know our address or do I need to give it to you?
Bri: I need your address.
Allison: it's 446 Sampson Street in Central City. Do you want me to pick you up?
Bri: yeah. I don't have my driver's licence yet.
Allison: okay. I'll be there as fast as I can.
Bri: okay, thanks Ally.
Allison: no problem, Bri!
Bri turned off her phone, waiting for Allison. While waiting, a strange man approached her "wow, you sure are pretty for a man..." he said "um, I'm a girl. I get it, I look like a boy but try not to get confused." She corrected him. "Oh, a girl, huh? What's your name, young woman?" He asked. Even though it was dark, Bri could see a small smirk on the man's face. Bri knew that she was a victim. She quickly grabbed her suitcase and ran across the yard. She looked back, only to see the man chasing her. She tried to run faster, only for her to see Allison's car. "Ally! Ally!" She called out, the car pulled up beside her. She scurried into the car, throwing her suitcase in the back seats. Once she was in the passenger's seat, she quickly shut the door. Which Allison quickly locked. The man tried to open the door, but couldn't. She drove off, the man let go of the car door handle and stood there. Bri relaxed a little "what was that about?" She asked "some random guy tried to attack me or something." She sighed "did he try to slap you or something?" She asked, concerned "no. He just complimented me and asked for me name with this is weirdo smirk." She sighed "oh.." Allison said. She mumbled something under breath while Bri stared out the window.
"This is the room I was thinking about giving you. This was Anna's room before she moved out." Allison said as Bri looked around. The room was a little cramped. "It's fine." Bri said. "Um, Bri, can I ask you something?" Allison asked "oh, sure." Bri said as she started unzipping her suitcase "um... what's your ideal type?" She asked "well, I like women who are playful, kind and accepts who you are." She responded "well, what about appearance wise?" Allison asked "well, I like women who have pastel hair. Or black hair." Bri said "would you date someone like me?" Allison asked "yeah, I would." Bri replied "well, um, can I be your... girlfriend then?" She asked, Bri turned towards her. She approached Allison, smiling sweetly. She lightly kissed Allison's forehead "of course!" She said.
