Six months ago I never thought that morning this beautiful and terrifying would ever come. Today I will take an exam that will determine whether I will be able to train my powers, obtain employment, and assist my mother.

Thankfully, I won't be alone; my best friend Eve will be there as well. She is similar to me but in the opposite way. She gets along with people and helps them. She is the biggest bully’s nightmare. Simply put, she is a nice person. Not like me. Just thinking about what I have done to people while eating breakfast isn’t the greatest idea. Eve was the only one who could understand me at the time. So I befriended her.

Speaking of Eve, where has she gone? I was supposed to meet her at my house about five minutes ago! I texted her, but she did not respond. Calling her was also futile because she never answers. I suppose the only real option here is to be late for the exam...

 Eve arrived a little over ten minutes later. "I'm so, so sorry, I had to fix my bike," she says. She was begging for my forgiveness on her knees.

 "What has been done cannot be undone," I said as I assisted her to her feet. "Now we just have to be faster than lightning if we want to make it in time," I said while looking at her, she cracked a smile. “What’s so funny now?!”

 “Sorry, you just give off the, ”it is what it is,“ vibe, it makes me cringe.” She chuckled.

 Facepalming I took her wrist in my hands and dragged her outside. We mounted our bicycles and rode to our new high school. Only if I knew what I was getting myself into. Jeez, I don’t even know what the exam is about, and I am out here stressing over other people.

 With only two minutes to spear, we had finally arrived. The large hall was packed to capacity. There were formed groups. Despite the fact that I was half-human, I was assigned to the demon group. Eve, who was also a part-demon, was placed with the tigers. This system was completely beyond me.

 This exam, according to the head of this school, is just to see how your powers worked, with a small duel at the end. However, because this is a high-powered school, only students with a score of over 2,000 will be able to pass the exam.

 My name was finally called after a short while. So I went to the big room with the sign "exam room #4" on it. A large man sat in front of a desk full of papers when I walked in. "Please state your name, age, weapon, and element type," he instructed.

"My name is Joseph or Joey, and I'm 16 years old and a physical gun wielder," I said awkwardly.

 "OK, young man, do you know what your strengths and weaknesses are?" While taking down my information, he inquired. "Uh I-I, no sir," I stuttered because I was nervous.

"Hah, no need to be nervous, kid; now that you've received a recommendation from the higher-ups, there won't be any need for a duel; however, there will be a special test just for you next month, so please prepare carefully!" The man looked at me. And I nodded, simply leaving the room.

 When I and Eve finally got home, she told me that she barely got in and was ranked R. I hadn’t expected that since she was really strong. I didn’t tell her about what the exam guy said, I thought maybe my private teacher will explain later. All she wanted to know is if I got in or not. To which, I responded with yes.

It was already late night at this point when suddenly my phone started buzzing. An unknown number was calling. I hesitated at first, but still picked it up, "what if it was something important," I thought.

A quiet female voice spoke, "Hello, is this Joseph?"

I did not recognize this voice,  but still answered it, "Yes, this is Joseph and who might you be?"

"Name's Samantha, I'm here to inform you about your private teacher. You see, unfortunately, he won't be able to meet you in person tomorrow, but not to worry, I will be there, ready to welcome you! Now if you have no further questions I will go. Have a great night’s rest, my dear." And with that, the call disconnected.

I was so confused, why didn't the teacher call me himself? And what's with the quick "hello" and "I will go now".

I rolled around my bed thinking about the call. "Is he that rich, having to afford a personal assistant."

I couldn't sleep like this. "Damn it, she shouldn't have called me, I'm full of questions now," I sighed.

After a few more moments of rambling to myself, I put on headphones and started listening to music. Until I fell asleep.
