In the shadows a small humanoid figure approaches closer and closer, their hand seeming to reach closer and closer towards his face, his eyes start to fade to white than to black then back to white as the hand is about to touch his face. He hears a voice from the far distance sounding like he was underwater “Connor, Connor you need to listen” He starts to move around in a panic worrying about every move, struggling and wishing that he could get out of this nightmare. The voice gets louder and louder as if the voice was getting closer “Connor, you need to listen” the voice goes silent, as Connor starts to calm down a face appears right in front of his eyes out of the shadows, sending him straight back into the panic. The hand touches his face, his eyes turn bright green, his veins turn the darkest black. Connor looks around and sees a white gap below him, he jerks his body over towards the light coming through the ground, digging his nails into the ground, ripping it up to get out of this nightmare reincarnated into his own form of hell. He digs and digs into the ground as his ears start to ring, he feels a pull on his shirt trying to pull him back to the darkness. He pulls away and keeps trying to claw his way through this hole, his hope, his desires seemingly disappearing the more he moves towards the light. The hand grabs hold of him and drags him back slowly into the darkness, Connor fighting for his life trying to kick and hit the figure. Connor tries jerking his body to get out of the grasp of this figure covered in darkness, it’s no use he isn’t strong enough, he doesn’t give up but after thirty seconds the shadowed figure had won and Connor had lost all hope in getting away. Connor had lost his chance of survival. Connor had lost. Connor had lost. Connor had lost. Connor had lost. Connor had-
Connor wakes up in a sweat.
“Where am I?” He says in a panic, he moves his head around and scans the area trying to see if he can figure out where he is. He looks down at his hands and slides his body to the side of the bed. He keeps looking at his hands “Connor?” A voice from the other room, the sound is starting to get closer and closer towards the room. The tapping of the feet hitting the wooden floors of the hallways getting louder and louder. The door comes slamming open. Connor throws a pillow at the thing entering the room. The swings open as the pillow comes flying towards whatever was opening the door, the pillow perfectly timed calculated so when the door would be fully open that the pillow would come and hit the thing that was opening it giving Connor enough time to escape or worse case scenario fight back. The thing that opened the door was Connor’s mother, she was a beautiful lady with green eyes and black hair that had streaks of brown throughout it. The pillow comes flying towards her face to which she quickly grabs the pillow. “Connor, what are you doing?” says the person. “Um I was just uh… defending myself from the… evil monsters.” Connor nervously says. She laughs, “There’s no such thing as ‘evil monsters’ Connor.” “Anyway you got to get ready, you got school in twenty minutes.” She leaves the room leaving Connor even more confused than he was before she had started talking.
Connor gets up from bed to the sound of his alarm clock going off. He slowly moves over to the alarm clock and presses the snooze button. The alarm stops, it goes silent, “Connor, Connor, Listen to me” The mysterious voice from Connor’s dream starts to appear back in his head. Like a thorn to a rose this voice was stuck with Connor whether he liked it or not. “Get up.” The voice starts to get louder and louder in his head repeating the words “Get up.” over and over. Connor eventually gets up to which the voice goes silent. Connor walks over towards his mirror, and sees a big circular tattoo-like thing on the left side of his chest, it looks like the darkest black with sharp hooks that stick into his skin, almost like it was stitched on. Connor tries to scratch the mark off but once he touches it his head starts to hurt, his eyes start to spin and he feels light headed. Connor lets go of the mark and decides to move on with his day by trying not to make contact with the mark on his chest. He puts on his shirt, a white long sleeve button up shirt with a black tie and dress pants. The more he starts to see his school uniform the more excited and curious he is about where he is going to school. He walks out of his room, and down the hallway towards the living room. Stopping by to say bye to his Mother, as he is walking out the TV says something that makes his mark light up and starts to make his head go fuzzy. “If the government won’t help I will. They come in take our supplies and just leave with them without even giving us something in exchange. We don’t need them they need us. If we were to break the tubes they won’t be able to come to us and take our supplies.” The voice in his head seemed to not like the statement just recalling it as “Idiotic” which makes Connor chuckle a little. “If the government won’t help I will” Connor mutters to himself. He walks out the front door and turns to look around the street, to his surprise he turns his head left to see past the skyline of the city in the distance, a tube that was bigger than anything he had seen before in his life. The tube was over ten times the size of the city that was in the skyline, making the biggest of mountains look like little houses compared to it. Connor stood in awe of this behemoth of a creation as a little kid comes by and punches him in the stomach and then runs away quickly as Connor is on the ground still in awe of the massive tube but in pain from the punch of the little kid.
Connor picks himself off the floor, and reaches into his pocket to grab his phone. He opens his phone as he looks down and checks the time, “I’m late” He yells as he starts to sprint at full speed towards the school.
2 hours had passed and Connor had found himself in class, when he looked outside the window to see three armed guards with the number one on their backs, arms and shoulders. Connor’s head starts to hurt, it starts to become uncontrollable, Connor’s eyes start to spin, his head becomes light and he passes out.
The room is dark, his head feels dizzy, he looks around in fear of the humanoid figure coming back. Connor gets off the ground and starts moving his head around and around trying to cover every angle that the figure could appear in. Connor seemingly being driven crazy by the thought of this figure showing up again. Connor’s movements become stiff and he becomes a statue stuck still, unable to move. As he loses the ability to move the figure appears from the darkness the same as before. It slowly comes closer, jerking its body in Connors direction. The figure reaches out to touch Connors face, it gently puts its finger on Connors forehead and presses harder and harder into his skull. The figure presses harder and harder until Connor finds the pain unbearable, causing him to start screaming out in pain. The figure's finger starts to fade into Connors forehead, making the pain become larger and larger, the more the figure pushes into Connors head. Five minutes had past of uncontrollable pain and the figure had disappeared inside of Connor. Connor’s headache seemed to have disappeared and his head stopped spinning. His movement starts to feel more lively, he looks down at his hands and sees a green glow shine onto his hands, he looks around wondering where the glow is coming from but everything around him is pure darkness. Connor, now confused on where this green light is coming from, looks back down at his hands and keeps looking even further down to see the left side of his chest glowing a bright neon green. He takes his shirt off to see the circular tattoo had gone bright neon green. Connor drops his shirt on the ground as his eyes start to go bright green, he falls to his knees, looks up to the sky and his eyes shut as the dark figure starts to giggle.
Connor wakes up in a sweat
“Where am I?” He looks around and sees that there is a woman sitting at the end of his bed. He’s in a room, one similar to the one he previously woke up in before but not quite the same. He hears people coming closer to him before it was one set of footsteps but this time it was ten possibly more. The school nurse looks at him and says “oh you’re awake, you passed out during class and you were sent here, we don’t really know why you passed out there was nothing wrong with you and you didn’t have any previous medical issues, do you remember anything that would have made you pass out?” Connor replies “I don’t really know, I looked out the window and saw these soldiers approaching the school-” Connor gets cut off by the sound of the door slamming open. “We were told that Connor Anderson was here” yells the soldier that had just burst into the room. Connor stares at the man in fear as the nurse gets up and tells the soldier “The man you are looking for is the man in the bed over there” while pointing at Connor. The soldiers quickly walk over to Connor and take him away, Connor kicking and fighting his way out wanting more and more to get out of the hold of the soldiers dragging him away. He looks to the school nurse for help but she has turned her back to Connor telling him that he is on his own. He had given up, he stopped resisting and just let the soldiers take him away.
They drag Connor outside the school and rough him up a little, the soldiers grab hold of Connor again and throw him into a big glass sphere otherwise known as a Floating Transportation Machine. The outer sphere starts and soldiers and Connor go flying down the street towards the giant pipe connecting the planets. The sphere seemed to go faster and faster as Connor started to doze back to sleep, he had knocked his head on the floor of the sphere and knocked himself out. He wakes up with blood coming down from his forehead right where the figure had shoved his finger, blood now spewing out all over Connor the soldiers move quickly to patch up the cut. The soldiers now scrambling around to grab a bandage good enough to stop the bleeding start to worry about what will happen to them if they show up to the facility with another injured person. They start to approach the tube to the facility and just as they are about to make a turn into the security gate they find the bandage and quickly put it on Connor’s head. The soldiers now pull up to the security gate that is out the front of the facility. There is still a very long distance left of the tube to get to the facility, standing in the way is a big metal vault door with two guards sitting out the front with a button on either side of the gate. The soldiers drive the sphere closer to the guards at the gate, they trade glances, both the soldiers and the guards node at each other and the gate opens up. As they enter the boundaries of the gates, the big gates behind them start to lower, closing them off from the outside world.
They reach the end of the tube, Connor has woken up, his eyes widened as he sees a wasteland looking area consisting of many different run down buildings, and many different broken down areas almost looking like ruins of a past society. 200 metres away from what looked like the slums of this land was what seemed to be paradise with a massive grey brick fence in between the two locations. This paradise has massive buildings that reach to the clouds with massive skyscrapers that look like they pierce the heavens and the greenest grass Connor had ever seen. After time Connor began to see less and less of this paradise and more of the slums, he began to see the many workers in the mines, fields and construction sites slaving away at their jobs struggling to even find food to survive the next day of hard labour.
