Beforeword
(Novel is going to be about 10 chapters or less)
Hello, I’m Marta, a 15-year-old writer, and this is a project that’s very close to my heart. "He Left and So Did I" is still a work in progress, but I wanted to share it with you before it’s finished. Writing this novel has been a way for me to explore themes that I’ve been thinking about for a long time—grief, love, and mental health.
The story follows Kajetan, a young person who’s struggling with the loss of someone deeply important to him, and the strange, haunting connection he continues to have with his lover, Julian, even after death. But there’s more to it than that. It’s about trying to understand yourself when everything around you feels confusing and out of control. It’s about the way love can feel both like a lifeline and a heavy burden.
I’m still working on finishing the book, and there are moments where I wonder how it’s all going to come together. But I wanted to share it with you now because these emotions are raw, and I want you to feel them too—whether it’s through Kajetan’s pain or his fleeting moments of peace. I’m hoping the story will resonate with anyone who has ever felt lost or disconnected from the world around them.
One thing I’m really excited about is that this novel will eventually be turned into a comic. I can’t wait to see the characters and the story come to life in such a unique way. I hope the visual adaptation brings a new layer of depth to Kajetan and Julian’s story, and that it reaches more people in a way the words alone can’t.
Thank you for picking up this story, even while it’s still in progress. I hope you find something meaningful here, and I can’t wait to share the full journey with you when it’s finished.
With all my heart,
Marta
