Tristan
"Remind me why I'm attending this school again," I said, turning to face my mom as we pulled up to the school's main gate. Mom stopped the car and turned to me with a gentle smile,
"Ms. Jackson said if you complete all four years of high school here, you get a free ride to college. It may be expensive for now, but I'm trying to look towards the future."
Right, couldn't pass up a free ride to college. Receiving checks from my father may help a little, but it certainly won't pay for college. I wouldn't have to this school if magical beings hadn't popped up in our world. I have gotten used to seeing magical beings around town, however, attending a whole new school is always difficult. I got my school bag out of the car and waved goodbye to Mom. A total of 350 students attend Alice Jackson Academy, 200 magical beings and 150 humans. Of course, the school I go to is special, the students, faculty, and parents have to keep the school a secret.
Alice Jackson Academy is a government experimental school, meaning nobody outside of this academy know of its existence. Alice Jackson is the founder and principal of this academy, her whole purpose for the school is to have the younger generations get used to being associated with magical beings, so in the future, there will be fewer conflicts between the two races.
Three years ago a horrible, gruesome murder occurred, when they caught the guy, he claimed he was a vampire. At first, not a single person believed him (for obvious reasons) but then, more and more people came out, claiming to be vampires and other fairy tale beings. It was bizarre, especially when they proved to be what the claimed to be. I was still in junior high, just starting seventh grade when this all happened. So, how did I get into this secret, prestigious school? Very simple, at the beginning of my eighth-grade year, a questionnaire was handed out to my whole school. I didn't pay attention so much to what I was being asked and instead of attending a normal high with the same kids I grew up with, I got an 'invitation' to attend Alice Jackson Academy. I've only been going to the school for a year, I'm a sophomore now.
Why Ms. Jackson didn't start with an elementary school is beyond me, or maybe she did and it's also a secret.
This Academy has three main rules students are to follow,
1. No bullying of the opposite species, if you get caught you are kicked out of school.
Of course, there is no clarified rule of magicals bullying other magicals or humans bullying other humans.
2. Keep this school a secret.
3. Make sure to have your personal ID card on you at all times.
Because of the secrecy of this school, we were given special ID cards on the very first day of school. The ID cards include our name, age, species and a photograph of us. We use our ID cards to scan ourselves in at the main gate entrance. This is where things, get a bit complicated, we have one main gate to scan in first, then you have to scan your ID a second time for another entrance. Depending on your species the gate will open either left or right. I don't understand why the human campus is separated from the magical campus, like, Ms. Jackson wanted us to all get along, why separate us? They make up for that though, students get to transfer to the opposite campus for a day. I have never gotten that opportunity though.
Finally getting past the two gates, I searched around for my friends in the outstretched field. It shouldn't be too hard to spot them, ever since I and four other guys came to this school, girls seem to flock to us. For some reason we became this beacon for girls to fond over, it's very annoying. It's almost as if the girls here can't control their hormones, like they've never seen a guy before. All the girls act the same to one another too, they screech when they see each other and have the same peppy attitude as if they think they're better than everyone else.
Sure enough, I spotted a nice little crowd of girls surrounding something, they better be in that damn cluster of girls. I became friends with the other four by default, once we all realized we were dealing with the same situation, we stuck together. The first guy to introduce himself to me was Mikah. As far as I know, he gets swamped because girls consider him to be ideal in looks and personality, blonde hair and blue eyes, you get the picture. Mikah is way too nice of a guy to actually tell any of them off, he's humble and acts as if the girl situation doesn't bother him. Conner, who I believe the only reason the girls are all over him are due to this mysterious vibe he gives off to others. It might also have to do with his edgy appearance. Conner's hair is long and he'll occasionally pull it back, he has an eyebrow piercing and is constantly playing on his 3DS. Then we have the duo, Ben and Wilder, identical twins. They are a package deal, always within the same distance of one another. We can only tell them apart because Ben speaks to us more than his brother. Otherwise, it's near impossible to tell them apart when they are side by side. Last but not least in our group, me, I found out pretty quickly why girls flock to me. I have heterochromia, my left eye is blue and my right eye is hazel.
As I got closer to the crowd, I could hear girls trying to flirt with my friends, then the scariest thing happened, someone spotted me.
"Hey, Tristan!" A girl shrieked, causing others to turn in my direction. Oh crap, here we go.
"You are looking so hot today!" One said as she hugged my left arm.
"I was waiting for you to show up!" Another said as she grabbed my right hand.
"We should see a movie together sometime!" Some other girl said.
More and more clustered around me, I can't breathe. Why are they all so annoying? Every time I try to speak, it seems as if my voice just gets drowned out in their squeals. As more and more started to swoon over me, I felt someone stand behind me, oh please be one of my friends. I glanced behind me to see Mikah, thank the lord.
"A bit too much this morning, isn't it?" He said, leaning down just a bit so only I could hear him.
"It's always a bit too much when the hell is the bell going to ring?" I said.
As if the Academy itself heard me, the bell rang causing loads of girls to groan and hurry to class. Most waved goodbye, I heard some say, see you in class, before leaving.
The other three finally joined Mikah and I, Conner standing on the left side of me. None of us seemed to budge, we only stared at the school even though we would be tardy.
"Eventually we will have to go inside," Conner commented.
Neither of us wanted to continue to deal with that, so we hesitated before making our way to class. Sometimes, I really hate this school but thank goodness we all have homeroom together.
