Sitting in that car felt rejuvenating. The sense of freedom that overwhelmed Elijah was like no other as he stared out of the window, seeing busy people bustling about. He rested his cheek against the door, taking in one breathtaking view after another.
“Elijah, are you sad about leaving home?” asked a woman who seemed to be a secretary. Elijah didn’t meet her eyes, mumbling in a voice one couldn’t catch unless they leaned in.
“No, the opposite actually,”. His voice was sickeningly sweet, the type to provoke motherly instincts from all females to protect and cherish this boy. “Leaving my hometown was my dream and it's about to come true. How could I be sad?”
Stunned, the secretary lady could only smile and ruffle the cute boy’s head.
The company itself deserved to be called the number one entertainment firm. Golden Entertainment was famous worldwide for producing the best artist known to everyone. As such, an extravagant building was only assumed to house such amazing people.
Elijah walked out of the taxi, a total of a singular bag strapped along his back. Within carries all he could ever need in order to start his new life at the dorms. A feeling of freshness and excitement overwhelmed him.
Inside the building was just as marvelous as the outside. The floor was this iridescent marbling, lined with shimmering gold as if representing the success it can foster by simply walking on its floors.
Others in the hall could not help but glance at this well behaved, neat and tidy. His thick and silky black hair made people want to stroke and ruffle it up. His cute round eyes with a tinge of red on the edges riled up one's protective instincts. All around could only wonder how good looking the parents must have been to have such a cute child. No one could guess what was truly going on inside that head of his.
Riding the elevator, Elijah and the secretary rode up to meet the CEO who will give him his next tasks.
“Sir, Elijah has arrived as requested.”
The CEO was a round man who didn’t look like he could pose an issue if raced against. His brows sweated profusely as he turned around from his chair in a big smile. While others saw a cute and obedient child, he only saw a walking and talking money bag.
“Elijah! I hope your ride here was smooth, yes?” The CEO laughed, his belly roaring with each move. He got up in order to greet the child, causing Elijah to flush.
“H-hi, sir. Thank you so m-much for giving me this opportunity!” Elijah’s seemingly sparkling as he conversed. “I can’t help but feel as if I don’t deserve this chance, but I will make sure to do my best!” He leaned forward as his voice got increasingly louder, only highlighting his eagerness to do well. Everyone in the room couldn’t help soften their gazes when looking at him.
What a bunch of idiots, he thought as he batted his eyes for dramatic effect. How easy it was for everyone to swoon over him.
“Don’t be silly, my boy. It is not us who gave you this opportunity but your natural born talent” The CEO boasted, giving a big belly laugh. “But you do understand that talent is not enough for you to make it in this industry?”.
That cheerful tone he was displaying before completely shattered, and entered a tense atmosphere. His eyes went from soft to sharp as he looked Elijah up and down. He couldn’t help but gulp.
“While you can surpass a mass of trainees in terms of talent and looks, becoming an idol requires a strong mentality. Are you prepared?” The CEO pushes a contract in front of him, awaiting his signature.
A smirk hid behind Elijah’s eyes. Factoring whether he was prepared was not a factor. No matter what, he had to sign this contract if he wanted to escape. If he wanted to live… Resolute, Elijah gave a pleasant smile.
“You don’t have to worry about that, sir. My mind was set the moment I sat in that car. I’m ready for whatever the world throws at me.”
The CEO was startled by the fire in his eyes, as the air around this boy completely changed. He couldn’t help but smile, thinking to himself what prize he found.
“Then what are you waiting for boy, sign the contract. It is only the beginning from here.”
Passing the pen over, Elijah wrote his signature at the bottom, not even caring to read the print. All that mattered was that the contract was signed, giving him a new start.
