What have I done? My wings had been exhausted from the flight I had already taken to get here, everything was covered in a false veil of mist. It was so cold even my body began to shiver with the cold air pressing against my body, finally I saw two familiar figures in the distance. "Oh no, S-Sahta, E-Elio!" I ran down the slope towards them stumbling, as I saw the glint of both of their sacred weapons pointing at one another. "What is the meaning of this!? Could it be they are being controlled by some evil I can not see!?" I had no choice but to use my gifts. "Divine eye of guidance, set your sight on the spirits of those before me." There was nothing in them, nothing taking hold of them from either direction.
I felt tears begin to form, blurring my vision, until I saw the two of them lunge at each other. I then flew straight into the middle of their pointed weapons. There in that moment, I felt warm again as they held me in their arms, retracting their sacred weapons from my body and throwing them down. Their tears began to burn right through my chest. I saw Sahta and Elio's faces writhe in agony in a way I had never seen before. Yet I was finally able to let my own tears fall, relieved to see that the two of them were still alive. They were both kneeling at my side, opposite from one another. "Y-You two are the most precious friends I could ever have been blessed with." Everything was beginning to fade, "N-No! Please don't leave us." Elio frantically yelled while gripping my hand tightly, placing it on his warm cheek, with his other hand he summoned his holy flame to try and close the wound he made. "I-It's my fault, my sacred weapon...Once it pierces flesh the body is unable to heal by any means!" Sahta screamed while digging his nails into the dirt unable to look at me. I placed my hand on his hand. "Enough you two...Look at me." I used all of my strength to see them clearly one more time, and to tell them my hidden truth, just to see my beloved's face. "I loved both of you so much, yet there was a love...different from the other. It was you who I-" As I turned to look at his tearful face one more time, I could see him begin to shake in distraught. Suddenly, my soul plunged into darkness and everything was gone.
The gods of old all kept a distance from their creations, including their own emotions. By creating celestial bodies known as "icons," they would transfer all of their feelings and only half of their power into them to survive. Yet what will they become once they begin to live with one another, and even fall in love?
