In the Lands of KZ
Chapter One: Intro
One morning, Yen got up just as excited as she was a year ago. Today was the first day of a Furry Month! In the country of KZ, there are many different traditions such as Mamario Day, Pinodia day, Mayafhila, and more! Yen loved all these days. She loved the food, which was a lot of fried spinach, she loved the music, performed by The Frozen Maracas, her favorite band, and she loved learning about the history of her city and country. “MOOOOMM!!!” She yelled across the house. “I’M AWAKE!! I’M AWAKE!!” She jumped down from her mossy hammock-bed and ran into the kitchen.
“Yes, I see that you are awake, and I’m sure that the neighbors are more than happy to hear that, but note that these walls are moss, ok?” Yen sighed. “But today is the first day of Early Furry Month. I was hoping that Tako’s … absence wouldn't stop us from going to the Beast Pig Hills.” Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. “That must be grandpa!” she ran towards the big wooden door and pulled on a rope that brought the door up.
”Yen! It’s good to see you! I know that this is one of your favorite days of the year, so I brought you a spinach cake-roast.” Grandpa was one of Yen's favorite people. He was not the smartest, but he was definitely one of the sweetest. “Come in grandpa! I was hoping that you could tell me that story again, I forgot it!” Yen did not forget. She just likes the story. “Yen,” Yen’s mother interrupted, “did you say thank you to grandpa for that lovely cake-roast?” Yen looked at her grandpa.” Grandpa, thank you so much! Now about that story… “ She and her grandpa sat on the setsap chairs in the living room.
“Alright then… It all started when the Great Founders founded KZ, this beautiful country. The founders lived in the Great Cave north of here. One day, when they were passing through the Pine Halls, which were called Kevin’s Land back then, they saw it. The great pine needle. Zora, one of the founders, took it and kept it for long years. The second founder Terra, chased it down. They fought for years, until founder Terra backed off. She realized it was not evil and Zora realized that it’s power is better off shared. Thus, they formed a city to worship this great needle. Pinodia.
This entire tree is the third biggest city in KZ, besides its capital, KZ City and Fir City near the Latte Lake. But then, the Great Pine Needle’s days started to wither away. It was dying. With nothing else left to do, the Founders sealed it in a tomb of rock. When it emerged, it was immortal and has lived on to this day. It stands in the center of Pinodia, and is the reason we survive.”
Yen smiled. “Thank you grandpa. I think I remember it now.” Yen’s mom walked in “Ok, in two days we are leaving for the Beast Pig Hills. Grandpa lives near there and he is leaving on Lamera. You have a full 12 days of no school for Early Furry month.” Yen smiled so much she could not feel her mouth. “REALLY? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!??!?! THIS. IS. THE. BEEEEST!!!” Yen hugged her mom. “THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!! I’m gonna go pack my bags!!” Yen ran back into her room to grab the leaf sack.
“We’re only leaving for 2 weeks!!”, said mom. Two days later, they were only a few hours away from leaving, and Yen was ready and sitting by the door. Her mom walked up. “You know we still have a while. Hopefully you’ll make some new friends…” Yen sighed. “I told you mom, I’m only going for the Beast Pigs, nothing else.” Her mom looked up. “Your loss. You’ve never had an actual friend, so….” Yen’s mom paused for a while then walked away.
