Looking up at the stars I lose myself for a moment thinking, will I ever step into the light. I hear my name getting called from the car I turn around and I see Jessica, my childhood friend.I walk towards the car dragging my feet along the gravel as I do "sorry I spaced out you ready to go" Jessica nods.I get in the car feeling the hot leather under me, smelling the smoke from Jessica's cigarettes. Jessica starts the car as we drive home she starts humming lady in red "you need to at least give newer music a try" I say. As we pull up to the house I groan not wanting to go in knowing my sister is waiting for me "go on she won't hurt you" Jessica says teasingly. I open the car door and step out "you sure you don't wanna join" I say teasingly. "see ya Jessica I'll text you when she leaves". "why don't you just tell her you live here" I say Jessica replies "why don't you tell her what you are" I give her the stink eye and close the door. I wave as she drives off I turn around filled with anxiety I walk up to my door thinking "god help me do not let her kill me please". I open the door and to my surprise I see not only Samantha but our parents "hey Matt" Samantha says. "Mum,dad what are you guys doing here I thought we were going to meet tomorrow" I say surprised. "Well Samantha called us and asked us to come early" mum said. "Well I'm glad you're here but for what reason" I say. "We wanna talk to you and it's pretty urgent" mum says. "What's wrong are you and dad ok" I say worryingly "we're fine but we want to talk about you" mum says "why what did I do" I say jokingly. "You didn't do anything wrong we did we know you act like it didn't hurt you but the way we reacted hurt you, we shouldn't have acted like that when you came out and we're sorry" mum says sadly. "It's really okay I'm over it I promise" I say as I sit down "I will admit I was angry but I didn't expect you to understand straight away I knew it would take time" I say while looking down. "Mathew can you forgive us we should have accepted you your our son" mum says lovingly. I'm reply "I forgave you ages ago now let's change the topic how about we talk about Samantha and her relationship struggles" Samantha looks at me angrily. My phone starts ringing it's Jessica I signal to my family to wait a second I pick up the phone "hey Jessica what's up" Jessica replies "I got a flat tire can you come help". I say "uh yeah text me where and I'll be there soon bye" she replies "bye I'll see you soon" I hang up the phone "hey Samantha can I borrow your car Jessica has a flat tire". "Yeah sure I'll come though because your house is scary and mum and dad have to go soon" Samantha says "yeah we do have to go now but do you still want to meet up for lunch tomorrow" mum says. "Okay well I'll see you tomorrow bye" I say as I pick up Samantha's keys the little gold bell on it rang a few times "bye mum bye dad love you" I say as I walk out. "Bye Mathew bye Samantha" mum says as I close the door behind me and Samantha I feel a deep chill down my spine as if maybe someone was watching me.
