Read Inky and Alpine- The beginnings

The cloudy, rainy night was filled with howls from the far away wolves and the constant buzz of humans' chatter in the near-by village of HollowVille. The rain started pourng down with so much force that Glisten and Jungle started to get worried. Jungle was about to give birth to their first litter of pups. Jungle was dark grey with a black foot and a white tail and brown eyes. Glisten was a lighter grey on this front half, but his hind was completely black. He had green eyes that shone like polished emeralds. The pair were lying on a pile of dried red, orange and brown leaves (mixed in with the odd twig or clump of grass) in the centre of a small clearing they had found. A few metres away from the edge of the clearing were large human trash cans and recycling bins of many colours.Green, red, blue, yellow.... They had been graffitied on, very heavily. The graffiti was mostly writing, juch as 'jake was here' or 'sam and patricia 4 life' in silly fonts or drawings of 3D stars and stuff. The bins had rotting food pouring out of them, and the stench was horrible.It smelt like there was a dying animal an inch away from your nose. There was an old, crumbling road next to the bins leading to some ancient, abandoned brick and mortar buildings. Most of them were falling apart and looked as though they might collapse at any given moment. Many of them had broken or cracked windows and all of them either had had their doors and windows boarded up or had too much debris and gravel within them to even fathom daring to attempt going inside.

As Jungle and Glisten lay there, an orangey dog with black patches burst through an opening in the trees.

"sorry i'm late! has it happened yet?'

"no, russet, not yet. and we were expecting you to be late, its pouring!"
