Chapter 1
I tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear as I glance around my half-packed room, boxes haphazardly strewn about. I had thought it would be a great idea to save some money by renting part of my room, but now that the moment has come for my new roommate to arrive, I can't shake the nervous flutter in my stomach.
Just as I'm starting to wonder if she'll even show up, there's a soft knock on the door. I take a deep breath, forcing myself to sound welcoming as I open it. Standing there is a tall girl, her frame almost hidden beneath a gray hoodie. Her hair is a wild mess, tumbling over her eyes like a curtain, making it hard for me to gauge her expression.
"Uh... Hi," I say, feeling a bit awkward. "Are you... Lena?"
She nods slightly, clutching a bag in her thin fingers. "Yeah... that's me," she replies, her voice barely above a whisper.
I can't help but notice how she avoids eye contact, her gaze fixated on the floor. There's something almost ethereal about her presence, as if she's stepping out of a shadow. "I just want to make sure you're okay with this," I say, trying to ease the tension. "Sharing the space and all?"
Her shoulders seem to tense at my words. "I...I hope it's okay," she stammers, glancing up just enough for me to catch a glimpse of her eyes before they dart away again. It almost feels like she's bracing herself for rejection, and my heart sinks a little at the thought.
"It's fine," I reassure her, forcing a smile. "I could use the company, honestly." I step aside, gesturing for her to come in. "Make yourself at home."
As she enters, I can't help but feel a mix of curiosity and caution. There's something intriguing about her. Maybe it's the way she seems to blend into the background, or perhaps it's the air of mystery that surrounds her. I can't quite put my finger on it.
"So... do you have any plans for settling in?" I ask, hoping to break the ice.
"I'm not sure yet," she replies, glancing around the room. "I just need to find a spot for my stuff." Her voice is soft but steady, and for a moment, I wonder what lies behind those unkempt bangs.
I nod, trying to think of ways to engage her. "If you need help, just let me know. I'm pretty good at organizing."
"Thanks," she murmurs, her tone laced with shyness. "I can take care of myself."
As we start unpacking in silence, I steal glances at her, trying to gauge her personality. She seems lost in her own world, but I can't shake the feeling that there's more to her than meets the eye.
Notes-
Hiiii~ This is a shorter, change of palate wholesome gxg romance. Initially, the story is meant to be cutesy and wholesome but it's got some spice in the upcoming chapters which I will be posting a notice or warning prior. In the meantime, Lmk what you think :)))
