WELLS
I was out swimming in the lake near my cabin. It's nearing fall so the leaves are starting to fade from that vivid, spring green into dull reds and yellows. Outside, the water was starting to get cold but it was still warm enough to swim in. I dunk my head under water coming back up feeling more refreshed, when Flora comes storming out of the cabin up to the bank of the lake. I start swimming over to ask what's wrong.
"Flora, wha-"
“They're at it again, Wells. Get out and get dressed so we can go", she interrupted. Then turns around and walks back to the cabin, presumably expecting me to follow.
I sigh and sink back under once more before getting out and jogging to the cabin. By the time I got dried off and almost finished changing, Flora was banging on my door.
"Wells! Hurry your ass up! We need to get over to Lerwick before they clear out the whole store!"
I roll my eyes, pulling my hood up as I open my door to face her.
"Flora. Calm down, I'm sure we will be fine if we get there to stop it a little later than normal" I say sarcastically.
...
"You were saying?" Flora says while staring daggers into the back of my head.
The first store we go into, a games shop, is completely cleared out other than the games they didn't have already I guess. This is where we normally catch them so our timing is slightly off, my fault.
"I may have been a little wrong, sorry about that" I mumble, avoiding her gaze.
“Let's go see where they went and clean it up from there." She hisses as she starts walking away, leaving me to catch up.
Luckily the next store we came to is where we found the three of them. Flora was busy stopping Porter and Paxton, so I was left with Easton like usual.
He hadn't noticed I was coming up behind him yet. Perfect. As I got closer and closer I was ready to lunge forward to tackle him, but he chose the most incredible moment to turn around.
God he's gorgeous. Nope. Not right now.
Causing me to falter where I was, giving him the ideal amount of time to turn and tackle me instead. Not a hard task considering he's a good six inches taller than me and more muscular. However being small compared to Easton does have its pros, one being he automatically thinks I'm down once he gets me and begins to get up sooner than normal. This causes me to have the right opportunity to shove him down and keep him there.
As I do exactly that, I get his hands still. I look up at him and only then do I realize how close our faces are. We both seem to freeze realizing it at the same time. Then Easton snaps out of it and gives me his stupid ass grin. I'm blushing aren't I?
"Do I see a blush Well?” A smirk grew on his face.
Yep, I'm blushing. That nickname doesn't help.
"Hmm? Are you going to answer or not" Easton keeps teasing.
I don't want to answer so I do the next best thing. Punch him. It does surprise him, but not for long. So while he's still down I yell for Flora and start grabbing the stuff he already stole, to return it, but all I hear is laughing from behind me.
Flora, Porter and Paxton are all standing together watching me and Easton. She's not going to shut up about this later at the cabin.
But I couldn't really focus on them that long because Easton was up again and striding towards me again.
"Wells, punching me first always ends up in a chase. Why start that again?" He casually says as he backs me into the wall that's behind me. Before I could make the run for it, he pinned me against the wall, holding my arms at my side.
Shit.
"Okay how about this. I'll ignore the punch if you answer my question. So?" He asks.
"Fine." I mutter, looking beyond his shoulder so I don't have to look at his face.
"Perfect! But first..." He then moves my hands above my head so he can use one hand to hold them before using the other to hold my face to make me look at him. He chuckles a little then says, "And he's blushing again.", more to himself than to me it seemed. What the hell is his problem?
"Okay. Why are you blushing?" He hummed.
"Fuck this" I cursed as I tried to get out of his clutch but he only tightened his grip.
"Come on Well, it's simple, just answer the question."
I don't want to answer. I don't want to tell him it's his eyes. That he has these winter blue eyes that are so beautiful which went so well with his face. I can't say that, but the answer is quite literally staring me in the eyes.
"Y-You…" I mumble as my mind races to try and find a less humiliating response.
"What? I couldn't hear you Well."
"You were too close to me."
"Sorry?” Easton says his eyes widening lightly to reveal more of that gorgeous blue, “Could you say it louder?"
"You were too close to me, stupid. You were close to me and I blushed. It's simple, what don't you get?"
"I was too close? But you were the one on top of me. How does that make sense?” He asked, confused, but I was not going to explain that to him.
"Nope, you said a question, not questions. I answered. Now let me go."
He didn't budge though. Finally he moved but only to whisper in my ear, leaving me frozen before letting me go.
"Let's go Porter and Paxton, we have some games to play back at the cabins" He said, grabbing the stuff he stole and walking out, not looking back at me.
Flora had to snap me out of it so we could go back to the cabin.
Even back at home though I couldn't stop thinking about what he'd whispered to me.
