“Hello everyone ! My name is Mr. Dias and I am your new teacher” He says cheerfully, excited to teach new students. Observing his students reactions, noticing they’re not as happy as he is but that’s understandable. The door clicks open and he smiles at who he sees, it’s the head teacher. He asked “Any students I should be worried about” jokingly but also curious at the same time.
He followed the head teachers slow gaze and his eyes land on a boy, hood up and head down on his desk. Funny, I never noticed him he thought. Then is interrupted by the head teacher coughing to get his attention, and gestures to follow him out the class.
HT (head teacher): “The boy with his head on the desk, his name’s Ethan.”
Mr. Dias: “Should I be worried about him ?”
HT nods slightly and looks deep in thought “He is close to being kicked out of the school.”
Mr. Dias’ eyebrows raise, eyes wide in shock “What ? Why ?”
HT: “Many reasons. He…is always fighting his peers. He hardly shows up to class or school and when he does, he doesn’t do the work.”
Mr. Dias nods, knowing he needs to help this boy the best he can. The head teacher pats his shoulder, as if he’s telling him ‘good luck’ and leaves. Mr. Dias enters the classroom again, attention on Ethan, which still has his head on the desk.
Mr. Dias then gets the attention of the class and starts teaching. He hands out worksheets for the class and everyone gets straight to work except one person. Mr. Dias walks up to Ethan’s desk and knocks it gently, like you would if you chapped a door. The boy speaks up “Go away” he grumbles. “Aren’t you going to do your work ?” “No”
Mr. Dias sits down in the vacant seat next to Ethan, annoying Ethan even more. Ethan still hasn’t lifted his head.
Ethan: “I tell you to go away and you do the exact opposite”
Mr. Dias: “You need to do some work”
Ethan: “I can’t do it”
