She ran a towel through her hair, hurrying to put her equipment away before she pulled her hair into a sloppy ponytail and ran out the door. She didn’t flinch as the cold arena air made her shiver briefly and continued outside. She then remembered that her mother had her water bottle, so she quickly went off to find her.
When she found her mother, she was talking to a man she didn’t recognize. She slipped in and grabbed her water and rushed outside straight into the arms of her boyfriend. Everyone was waiting for her, so she didn’t waste any time. She took off at a run, getting her boyfriend and friends to run with her. Once they finished their run and workout she went back inside to look for her mother.
The strange man was still there, only now he was talking to her coach as well as her mother.
Deciding not to bother them, she grabbed her equipment and yelled to her mother that she was getting a ride home. She dropped her stuff outside and jumped onto her boyfriend’s back. She screeched as he turned and grabbed her only to hug her tight and kiss her neck. He was only too happy to drive her home.
Her life was perfect. She worked hard to be good at what she loved, and she had friends that were always there for her, whenever she needed them. What she didn’t realize, however, was that her entire world was about to change.
The next day, she noticed the same man from the day before talking to her coach again before practice started. She thought nothing of it and got ready to go on the ice. The rest of workout that day was the same, except that wherever she looked, that man was watching her. After practice, the man was waiting for her with her mother. Her mother introduced him as Mr. McGregor.
“I’ve been watching you play, and you’re very good,” He said.
Mr. McGregor began to talk to her about universities, scholarships and amazing opportunities. She began to feel dizzy as he said, “We would like you to move down to Carmine City to train, once a week, with the CC University Red Eagles.”
